Why OK YAKI is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family
OK YAKI is a vibrant and popular dining destination in East Atlanta, known for bringing authentic Japanese street food from Osaka, the food capital of Japan, to the local community. Founded by Corban Irby in 2016 as a pop-up, OK YAKI has successfully transitioned to a permanent brick-and-mortar location at 714 Moreland Ave SE, situated within the newly renovated Seville complex. This makes it a unique and inviting spot for friends to meet and enjoy a collaborative dining adventure. The restaurant specializes in Okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake made from a unique broth batter, cabbage, and a selection of meats or vegetarian fillings, topped with Japanese BBQ sauce, imported mayo, seaweed flakes, and roasted bonito flakes — a truly distinctive dish that is rare in Atlanta. Alongside Okonomiyaki, guests can savor yakisoba, gyoza, Japanese curry, and karaage chicken, with options available for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets, appealing to diverse palates. The open kitchen concept features a large teppan griddle, engaging diners with the sights and aromas of freshly cooked meals. Seating accommodates 45 guests, with a mix of bar seats around the kitchen, booths, and a wet bar, plus access to a sizable patio for outdoor dining. The bar serves Japanese draft beers in frozen mugs, sake, shochu, and whiskey highballs, enhancing the communal and lively atmosphere. OK YAKI also honors its roots by continuing pop-up events around Atlanta.

This place is a hidden gem. The food and cocktails are amazing. The flavors are incredible and the dishes have depth. If you aren't sure what goes well together, ask the staff. They are extremely kind and knowledgeable. Parking is limited. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Well behaved dogs are permitted on the patio.

The food was absolutely delicious! We tried the combo with steak and another with pork belly—both were packed with flavor. The ambiance is perfect for a date night, with dim lighting and a lively atmosphere. All the dishes, including the appetizers, came out hot and scrumptious. The only downside was the wait time, but the food more than made up for it. Definitely worth a visit!

Oh my goodness: finally a great okonomiyaki place in Atlanta! We had a variety of dishes: the tuna salad, the karage, miso soup, okonomiyaki, yuki udon, and a onigiri and sando for takeout. It was all delicious and the service was great!! It’s a cozy spot, very clean, and very cute. I’ve been to Japan and while I’m not Japanese, I can say the food tastes just like what I experienced there. Thank you for existing!

This is one of the few places that has the okonamiyaki just like they have in Japan. We enjoyed the combo with the okonamiyaki over noodles. I added shrii, and my husband added pork belly and an egg. We enjoyed the pear cocktail and Tokyo cocktail. Our kids enjoyed plain noodles, and korokkie. I really liked the Goya. Everything was fantastic, and well worth going out of our way after visiting the aquarium. We sat outside, but the manager made sure we were comfortable with heaters. The restrooms were clean as well. Very neat spot for friends to meet up, or for a date night!
