Petco Park, located in the vibrant East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego, is much more than a Major League Baseball stadium; it is a central hub for sports, entertainment, and community gatherings. Opened in 2004, it serves as the home venue for the San Diego Padres and has a seating capacity of approximately 42,445. The ballpark is renowned for its architectural sophistication, notably the incorporation of the historic 1909 Western Metal Supply Co. building into the stadium design, creating a unique blend of heritage and modernity. Fans enjoy excellent sightlines and panoramic views of the San Diego skyline, with seating arrangements angled for close proximity to the action. Beyond baseball, Petco Park offers a family-friendly atmosphere with Gallagher Square, an expansive green space behind center field featuring an upgraded kids' playground, a play area for various ages and abilities, and a fenced off-leash dog park. The park is also a prominent concert venue hosting internationally acclaimed artists, making it a versatile destination. Its prime downtown location, adjacent to the lively Gaslamp Quarter and near the San Diego Convention Center, makes it a perfect meeting spot for friends and families seeking a full day of sports, dining, and entertainment. This park is an exceptional experience! It’s now in my top 5 ballparks. There’s something for everyone, and more. I recommend going early to get a good look around the park before it fills in. There are plenty of food options and seating everywhere, so you can people-watch while you eat. There’s also a lot of staff to help you find washrooms and take great photos of the park and the surrounding areas. Kids can play on the playground and on the miniature baseball field. The outfield seating is also very good, allowing you to be within talking distance of the players.

Honestly its a great place to see a game. The ballpark is modern and the atmosphere is lively. There are plenty of great menu options and the padres have allowed their fans to bring their own food in which can save you money. We really enjoy this park. There are many good seat choices. In and out is easy of you know how to tackle parking in down town or if you take the trolly or bus.

The nicest stadium in Baseball, perhaps all of America. The Padres have done something incredibly special here. The space feel like part museum, part urban office, part outdoor mall, part food hall, and of course a really amazing ballpark. There’s so much to do here… there’s a stage off of the back of the outfield for shows, and a local hall of fame inside. The seating is amazing - all geared towards baseball views. Just lovely, can’t recommend this enough.

Petco Park was a ton of fun! It was easy to walk too. The staff was super friendly. There was great energy and a sellout crowd. The food was delicious with a lot of variety. I liked the self checkout for quick food like hot dogs, soda, and nachos. There’s not a bad seat in the stadium. It’s a great stadium to walk around and is very spacious. Let’s play ball!

What a great park to catch a game at. The crowd was friendly. Lots and lots of food vendors and options. The lines seem to move fairly quickly. The biggest challenge was the Team Store as that was very crowded. However, they do have a lot of other options when you tour the concourse of the stadium. I’d love to be catch another game if I return to San Diego.
