Attended a group fishing trip. Weather was the best in the morning but nicer towards the afternoon. The Capt and deck hands were very helpful. Caught a few fish! Best to have a large group to cut the cost.

The guys on the mission belle are awesome. The crew is very friendly and very helpful. The captain is really good and gets down on the deck to help anglers get on fish. I had a great experience with them and will definitely go back.

El Capitan - 7/28/25. UPDATED 8/6. They lied on the fish count, we caught 3 not 9 BFT . I will share a few thing that stood out to me. Running over Kelp patties is not the best approach. You don't pull up within 10 feet of a paddy. How about setting up 100yards up wind and drifting down on the patty as opposed to practically running over the damn thing and scaring off any fish that might have been on it. Same with foamers, do not drive over a foamer. Anticipate the direction of the school, get up swell and ahead and then shut down. Let them come to you. The Captain did reposition the boat up wind after I said something, but he cut off another sportfishing boat that was already on a good drift and in my opinion he shut down that foamer. MD was very helpful and was able to get fish boiling around the boat. Thank you MD. The others should have been hooking and handing off fish to customers with little experience. That is how most professional operations run. If the bite is difficult the crew will help by hooking and handing. Not this crew. One crew member hooked and landed his own fish. Wow. Another important point is that we were on a 2-day and we should have had two solid nights of fishing. First night was very slow. The following day we tried to get on to some daytime fish but time management is important and being in the bite Zone for the night bite at Sunset never happened. We were so far away we did not get into the zone until about 10:00 p.m. . I spoke with other boats that were out fishing where we were and they told me that the bite happened early in the evening. Our captain was late to the party. The El Capitan drove right through the zone around 10pm and never stopped. We should have been in the zone Before Sunset. Another thing that bothers me is not seeing someone up in the bird's nest when the bite is slow. Grab those binoculars and start looking. We had one guy in the wheel house intermittently looking. That's not enough IMO. I also like a operation that not only gives you a briefing on safety as you leave the harbor but also goes over what to expect for the trip what size hooks to use and best practices. Some of the Anglers on our trip are very skilled. A few were not so skilled and could have used additional instruction. Captain's attitude. Salty and a bit rude. That's all. I personally will never ride this boat again.

the American Angler is amazing, two great captains in Brian and Ray and an excellent crew

These guys have worked with some wounded warriors and were more than willing to accommodate them with their disabilities and assist them when needed. The staff are cordial during the whole trip and they have the fishermans best interest at heart.
