I loved my first theater experience in Portland. The actors were amazing and I enjoyed the performance. We had a Q & A after the show and got some more insight on what happens behind the scenes. Lovely theater, highly recommended all year round and especially now to get into the Christmas spirit.

Everything was excellent!! The people, the service, the play, the star, the venue. One of the managers even cared so much for her neighbors, she let me know extremely kindly, that I was blocking the neighbor's driveway. I wasn't sure how close I was, so she helped me out too because I could have had a ticket. Would definitely come back!!

Intimate setting, good sightlines, good acoustics. We saw a powerful performance of August Wilson's play Joe Turner's Come and Gone. The stagecraft, backdrops, and theater added to an outstanding production.

"Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at Portland Playhouse is an amazing story, a saga of sorts, that unfolds in a simple house with fascinating characters and stories. Spiritual, horrifying , sad, and uplifting all at the same time. A genius work brought to life by a most convincing cast.

This is one of my favorite theater venues in Portland. It is an intimate small space for the audience to watch superior quality plays. The variety of plays I have watched at this theater are African American themed and African American writers.
