I rented three beach cruisers for a week. We went to pick them up started to ride them home and two of them were so hard to pedal. It was uncomfortable. We brought them back immediately within 30 minutes and I have been waiting eight days for the refund that I was promised. The girl at the counter did not seem very knowledgeable. She said I text them and they haven’t answered so let me call. I was told I would get an email with the refund amount and it would be within the next day or two. Still hasn’t happened but they sent me a email to do a review. My refund should be around $200

Scam for sure!! They tried to charge as 1000 deposit for each bicycle . I just wanted to mention that other bike rental shops in the area don’t require a deposit, even for e-bikes. Also, even for renting a 2024 car, the deposit is around $250. So, it’s surprising that the deposit for an e-bike is $1000.

All rental places are basically the same except for price, selection, and what happens when something goes wrong. I rented a pretty average board and the store employee who checked me out said let's check for damage, had a cursory look and told me everything was fine. So, I left. Then I paddled out in very gentle surf and the entire nose of the board broke off. I went back to the store and instead of apologizing and renting me a new board, they told me it was my fault and charged me $400. The nose of the board almost took me out, we were in kiddie pool surf. It's not enough to say I should've been able to evaluate the entire board, I'm not an expert and THEIR employee told me it was fine and sent me on my way. Unacceptable. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of options nearby in Pacific Beach.
