Very strict rules, no food allowed in rooms. Stayed one night, expected to complete all housekeeping, including laundering all bedding before leaving. Staff didn’t seem to speak much English, some employees were rude. No screens on windows. We needed rest and safety. During shower, we were forced to evacuate by fire alarm, had to leave our personal belongings in room. Not one person gave any instructions on evacuation protocol, or any information on the cause for alarm, nor when we would be able to return or access our room/luggage. Kids outside, sick and crying as well as confused- it was disturbing and chaotic. Did not feel like “home away from home” as advertised! No “welcome bag” was offered to us. No dinner was served. It appeared that most of the rooms were unoccupied/vacant, there were only a couple families evacuated. Getting in and out of the parking area was very confusing and difficult. We had to travel almost 150 miles from our home one way. We have no other place to stay, and my son is scheduled to have surgery!? This is a nightmare- Sad, I pray this was an isolated experience of bad luck and timing, and is not what other families are going through!! Prayers of good health and peace to all suffering! We did stop and snap a couple pics with Ronald during our stay, that I will attach.

Caring staff with the exception of one. Relatively behind the hospital so the stay was close by. Comfortable rooms and rested good knowing we were in walking distance to visit my child. Different people come every evening to cook dinner each night, so we ate delicious food and didn't worry about buying food but if needed to, we could. Clean and comfortable place just like home. Quiet and beautiful rooms, around 16 rooms.

We were turned away twice, and on the wait list for over two months too! My son needing care at PHC, we are 200 miles away from home. This happened two times in a row! Now I have no other choice ALL of my son's critical appointments, being special needs will be canceled. I never thought I would ever say this but: The Roanoke Ronald McDonald House discriminates. THIS IS NOT OKAY.
