Very easy walking trail with much wildlife and canopy for shade. Just shy of 3 miles around with a boat pier just off the trail. Saw a number of harmless snakes, small frogs, a few small birds, slugs and quite a few heron. Trail wasnt crowded at all. Smallish parking lot. Trail will be muddy after a rain, and for a few days after that since many spots don't get any sun. Most mud can be walked around, though. Second time walking this one and I've enjoyed it both times. Looks like there might be quite a few blackberries along this one when the season hits. Enjoy!

First time to this Wildlife Refuge, lots of land, and well maintained paths to explore. Beautiful green PNW scenery and foilage. We saw many different birds in our short jaunt here. Would recommend hiking shoes or boots, and jeans or long pants as it was a little mushy, and some taller grass. Parking area is sufficient, has a portta potty and well kept access areas. The road to get down here was all gravel and lots and lots of dust, so I'd advise not going right after you washed your car. Lol. We stayed about 45 minutes and didn't even begin to explore all the land here. Great spots for any bird photographers our there, or even just a fun little picnic.

Winter time on Sauvie Island is wonderful! I love to walk along the Columbia River! I walked from the clothing optional beach to the beach past Warrior Rock trailhead. The tide was out! I saw and heard hundreds of geese including the biggest flock of snow geese I have seen! I saw nine bald eagles and several heron and egrets! The day started out foggy but I got some beautiful sun in the late afternoon! I saw a total of less than 20 people! It was a perfect day!

I have been to the Sauvie Island farms many times so I already knew this is a great place to visit. This was my first time on the Island early in the morning. The landscape was absolutely stunning with the early morning mist. The beaches were empty and so peaceful just waiting for someone to come enjoy. This is a perfect place to bring the kids and dogs for an early morning walk on the beach.
