I wanted to love this hike but even though it’s more of a challenge than North Mountain it just isn’t as fun. The views are beautiful but the loop just seems to take forever for what you’re doing. I still think it’s worth visiting at least once. There’s a few portions where you don’t see any evidence of city at all!

We loved this hike! 👌 A little challenging for the not so experienced hiker (although my 6 yr old handled it like a champ), well worth the climb once you get to the top and get to check out what's left of the old restaurant. Great workout for the legs and beautiful views of Phx all around!

Loose rock to start. Doable just watch where you're walking. Once you get to the asphalt has a good incline to the top. Nothing you can't do. I would call this trail moderate. The views at top are amazing. I went in the morning hardly saw half a dozen people in January.

Outstanding hike/trek, although very rocky/gravel(ly)? trails. And, of course, the views are spectacular, all the way to downtown Phoenix, the airport, Tempe , Mesa and beyond to Apache Junction. Also southward to South Mountain and west to State Stadium. Great place for many trail runners and bikers (bicycling, not motorized ) Also horses frequent the trails. And lastly, but absolutely magnificently, is the awesome wildlife; As for myself, first time seen a fox, extremely quick and nimble scurrying up the edges of the rocks, with its extremely long bushy tail.
