I arrived with my friend last night (1/17/2025) this wasn’t my first time, but will definitely be my last. We (my friend and I) arrived to class late, due to horrible traffic, to try and support a friend who I thought was going to be teaching. He was absolutely the best hype man ever! However, I thought I pre-purchased tickets, but there was a hiccup in the system and didn’t end up register my friend and I. Instead of being discreet the teacher stops class, comes down from her stage and comes up to me in front of the entire class and says, “Did you pay?” I replied “Yes” she grabs her iPad, “What’s your name?” she says rudely. I tell her my name, and then she demands I follow her because I need to pay her. Not my friend who is *Caucasian* and me *Spaniard/Native* (side note: my husband also was treated poorly as well coming into class and was asked the same thing, he too is the same mix as I am. This hasn’t been the first time I’ve experienced this treatment coming to this studio, it’s happened before, both me and my sister in law came and were treated the same way months ago.) I was completely uncomfortable. I should have just left, but wanted to stay with our friend group and support an amazing guy. We were 21 minutes late, but due to the poor weather and traffic we didn’t intentionally try to be. We were given a last minute invite and wanted to support a great friend, we were coming from Littleton to get there, we were paying for it regardless; while also buying drinks. And to top it all off, we were all rushed a half an hour early to get out due to the weather, which then should’ve been rescheduled rather than losing that time that was paid for. All in all to say Do Better. Stop appearing or coming off racist or biased towards a particular skin tone that is 3mm deep. (No I don’t want an apology, No I don’t want to be in contact, and No I will never be coming back. That should make the studio happy, it’s only 4 people so it’s not a big deal, no love lost)
