I attend online classes here almost every week and have taken from a variety of tap teachers over the past 3-4 years. They are all clearly very skilled and I have thoroughly enjoy almost revet one of my classes. The great thing is that there are so many teachers and so many levels that if one doesn't fit what you need or want, you can always try another. And if you find what joy want, you can stick with the one person over time. Based on skill, style and schedule, I have been taking class with Tommy Waisutta Monday nights for several months. I have loved every class with him. This week The substitute teacher (wish I could remember her name) was fantastic and very friendly. She is clearly skilled in tap dancing, teaching and generally being a nice person. She also did well with making sure the thoughts and needs of both the in person students and the online students were addressed. Doing the Classes over zoom introduces some technical complications, which can be frustrating at times. On a good day, the volume of music is much too loud compared with the volume of the teacher's voice and taps, and the low latency of zoom causes issues that make it difficult to keep your rhythm/stay in time with the class. On a bad day, it might be impossible to hear the teacher, or the mic might be crackling and static-y the whole time. The studio does have a team for trying to fix it during the class, and if they can't fix it, they do refund you. So, the team does try to help, but it can be frustrating if what I want is to take a class and what I get instead is no class and my money back.

I will give a 0 star . Yes the staff may be excellent and nice to other dancers but to me they have been RUTHLESS and HORRIBLE. And I will tell you Why ... I have been dancing at steps since 2022 . And throughout I have been treated unfairly by the staff and especially GLENN . Coming from CONEY ISLAND I used to come there almost every day to dance . Work hard . Because I love to dance . Bend my back to follow their rules. If you read my response to Glenn's emails you would know that I politely agreed to whatever he said. But still Glenn and his staff have treated me rudely and this year in April they banned me from coming to the studio. Falsely accused me of things that I never did. If ever I was late beyond their 15 minute policy I politely took another class . When me and my husband came to meet Glenn . Their rude staff told us to leave the bldg . Like we killed someone and my husband does not even dance there. So their staff may be nice to other dancers who come there but why so much RASICISM towards me ? I cried to Glenn to let me come to dance but he ignored my requests . Without giving any valid reasons. I didn't do nothing there just focused on dancing . And gave them business . Many times other dancers have arrived late but they have not been banned . So why me? So the staff might be excellent towards other Dancers . But not to me . Amongst those who come their to dance or happen to read this POST do you think this is right ? How would you feel if dance was your life and you were treated this way . 😢 I am not a criminal just another artist/ dancer who strives to become better . Also one staff member CRYSTAL I don't know what's her problem? . I don't know know her personally, But when my friend came their to return my lab top 4 months ago which has my WORK in it . She assumes that it is stolen from steps when that is UNTRUE. And tells my friend not give me my LAB TOP. Clearly it's none of her business. Normally all the teachers are excellent and inspiring. And Till I could come to dance at steps I never missed josh bergasse class. But Jessica Lee Goldyn I don't know what's her problem. I was taking her theater jazz class since 2 years and She told me I am INCREDIBLE and that I should keep coming to her class. But the last couple of classes that I took of hers her behavior towards me changed ,when I was about to record she screamed NO and let everybody else record . I paid 27 dollars I have equal rights to record . Jessica then tells Glenn to tell me not to take her class any more. When I was doing well. I don't understand again why so much PREJUDICE and HATRED towards me. A teacher should always honor her students as much as we honor our teachers. I am extremely HURT . this is not the way to treat another dancer /artist. I even approached SUZY for help explaining her what I went through but she refused to understand me and rebuffed me like i had no value as their customer. I swear on my mothers grave that whatever I have said it's the truth . And if any of you'll happen to read this review will know that everything about steps is not a rosy picture. And the staff is very rude abnoxious and Glenn does not deserve to be a manager

Suzy Norton-DiCerto, the Director of Studio Operations, is fantastic! She was extremely helpful in the organization and arrangements of my University group's trip to take classes at Steps. She gave a lot of extremely good tips, advice, walked my group through procedures, was great at checking in to see how we were doing, and was around throughout our weekend to answer any questions that came up. In addition, we were lucky enough to have a group private lesson with Clinton Edward. The class was incredible, suited my students very well, and it was amazing to have such an inspiring artist work with my students. In addition, my students were registered for a variety of daily scheduled classes. I was amazed by all of the faculty and experiences, and the students really enjoyed the opportunity to dance alongside brilliant and tremendously talented people within the dance industry. We will definitely be returning!
