I loved this beach, but it’s not for everybody. I recommend it for people looking for a rugged, roaring surf that’s pounding rock cliffs. Those rock cliffs are filled with crustaceans - mussels and limpets - and other living things. They’re like vertical tide-pools. I didn’t get the chance to explore the caves to the south, due to a high tide, but I plan to come back and check them out.

Mid week winter beauty and we were mostly alone for a few hours. About a 2 mile walk in from Hwy 1.

Nice beach if you want to relax. Not a lot of people go here. No parking nearby. But overall clean beach and beautiful.

Nice little beach, very few people, about a mile walk from the parking lot just FYI… also there is a very large cave. Large enough to explore. Other than that it’s a normal beach.

What should visitors know before coming to Strawberry Beach?

Before visiting Strawberry Beach, groups should be aware of a few practical details to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. The beach is located within Wilder Ranch State Park, which charges a parking fee, so budgeting for this in advance helps avoid surprises. The terrain includes some moderate hiking trails to access the beach, which may be challenging for guests with mobility issues, so planning accordingly is important. Because the area lacks significant shade, visitors should bring appropriate sun protection like hats, sunscreen, and umbrellas to stay safe and comfortable. The beach is known for its natural rocky formations, which, while scenic, require caution—especially if your group includes children or less steady walkers. While the beach allows for peaceful solitude, it’s also crucial to respect state park regulations, including rules about nudity and wildlife protection, ensuring a respectful visit for everyone. Knowing some of these details helps groups prepare well and fully embrace the peaceful, nature-immersive environment Strawberry Beach offers.

Visitors often describe the locals as friendly and welcoming, contributing to an atmosphere of genuine kindness that enhances the overall experience. This welcoming spirit allows groups to feel comfortable and integrated, as opposed to feeling like outsiders in a tourist-centric environment. Small local shops near the beach provide convenience for last-minute needs, and sampling Jamaican culinary specialties from nearby vendors adds an authentic cultural layer to the outing. The opportunity to interact with locals, hear their stories, or even engage in simple cultural exchanges enriches group visits, making the trip not just about the natural surroundings but also about human connections. This element of hospitality transforms your group meetup into not just a scenic getaway but a meaningful and memorable adventure with both nature and culture at its heart.

Groups can either picnic on the beach with takeout food or plan stops at local restaurants for sit-down meals, both of which encourage social interaction and relaxed enjoyment. Avoid disturbing wildlife such as seals or nesting birds, and respect any restricted areas especially around cliff edges and sensitive habitats. Following park regulations regarding nudity and beach behavior ensures that the environment remains comfortable and safe for all guests. Using established trails to access the beach helps prevent erosion and damage to native plants.
