On our short trip to seattle,we happened to stumble upon this beautiful bakery. The baked goods are fresh and flavorful. We had one of the best chai tea latte. Less in sugar yet tasty. The ambiance is modern and clean with eclectic art work. We went back the next day for to-go cups. The meat potato loaf, almond tart and Havarati mustard pastry is amazing. Worth a try.

I visited Sugar Bakery today. I think it was poor timing, because they were sold out of what I was hoping to order, and they only had two people working the counter for food and coffees with a long line of patrons. My cappuccino was good. I had a prosciutto and brie sandwich, which was a little chewy for my taste, but ok. I got the coconut macaroons to go, which I have been enjoying post my visit. The reason for the 4 stars for service is strictly because they were understaffed. They were very friendly and worked hard to try and make everyone happy.

Food: they were out of the vegetarian option, so I got the ham pastry + a chai latte with oat milk and jam scone. The jam wasn't overly sweet, and the scone wasn't dry. Pastry came warm!! I must admit I was expecting a little more from this place based on the great reviews, but I still quite liked it. The atmosphere is relatively relaxed and sophisticated, and those who are looking for a pleasant Cafe in which to work and charge their devices and simply escape from the outside world will find this Cafe fitting. Everyone is nice while also providing space, and this is a very good place to simply linger and sip coffee or tea. I personally had an Earl grey that I greatly enjoyed, and I like the little timer that they have to tell you when the tea is ready. That's sad, the croissant sandwich I had was not spectacular, and it was a little cold in the center. The tables are also spaced quite closely together, which is probably good for business, but it also means it's a little difficult to get in or out of the tables, and the noise level is a bit higher than it probably should be. If I'm a bit disappointed, that is only because of high expectations, and there is nothing at all wrong with this place. It is a great option for a cafe on this side of town.
