This is my favorite eatery in Downtown Portland. I tried breakfast/brunch and lunch. I loved my Breakfast Sando. The sausage patty quality is good. It worked very well with the Milk Bread and egg. The pulled pork was ok. The curry ball was ok as well. However, their fries and curry are exceptional here. Street parking Outdoor seating area available A loaf of 5pieces milk bread is available for purchase.

This is a solid place for casual Japanese food. They also have a lot of vegetarian options and great coffee as well. I recommend the avocado toast and egg salad sandwich. My meat lover people love this place as well (katsu chicken sandwich). Highly recommended. Both locations are good.

Food was super yummy! Me and my friend got the chicken katsu sandwiches, one classic and one spicy. Both delicious. Strawberry sandwich was a perfect sweet treat and the DONUTS!! The consistency of the bread was everything. I recommend the special ranch for the sandwiches. I personally didn’t like the dirty fries. Service was mediocre at best. It was completely transactional. No smile, no greeting, just “what would you like. ok, we’ll have it out.” I just think customer service should be more meaningful or at least—friendly? Also, the seating is convenient only for a quick bite, not meant for groups or a party over 2. Worth trying once for brunch/lunch. Will probably not return for the price.

We had an okay experience in September 2024, but we revisited in April 2025 and had a good experience! Updating the review with most recent experience as of 04/2025: We got the Katsu Curry, a Matcha Latte, Katsu Sando, and an Ube Cream Filled Donut. Even though it feels like this is primarily a Katsu Sando place, don’t sleep on the curry!! For the price (I think it was $11?), the Katsu Curry was unexpectedly good. Katsu was moist and crunch, curry had good flavor, good portion of rice and salad. The Katsu Sando was alright, I feel like Tokyo Sando still has them beat. The egg salad and the ube cream filled donut were also my favorites!! The egg salad has some horseradish so it has a bit of a kick. The ube cream was nice and light, and the bread was a good texture too. The floor layout felt a bit awkward—the line starts against the left wall, and there’s a lot of seating in between the entrance and the wall, so it feels like we have to go around this huge table to order or look at the pastries. There’s not really a space for people to wait around when thinking about what to order, so it feels awkward if you don’t know what you want immediately. If you want a pastry, you have to look through the glass, but that’s also where the line is, so looking through the glass also blocks the line. Since there’s never a crowd when we go, it’s fine, but I can imagine if there’s a long line or multiple large groups, things could get chaotic fast. Service was friendly and fast. The place was pretty spacious and had lots of seats. My previous and current complaint is that the music is still uncomfortably loud in there, so it felt difficult to chill in there while and after eating. I can’t imagine people studying or hanging out here for long.

Stopped by this spot for a quick chicken katsu sandwich. Unfortunately, the sandwich was a bit too soggy for my taste, which took away from the overall experience. On the bright side, the fries were crispy and satisfying, and the service was friendly and efficient. Just a heads-up—it’s definitely located in a rougher part of town, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a visit.
