I was able to get a same day private lesson with Rich and it was so worth every penny. I am completely fresh to cards and he took time to practice with me, show me the correct positions, and give me tips and routines to try at home. I will definitely be coming back after I build up some of the skills he taught me. Thanks Rich.

Been wanting to visit for years . We had a bit of trouble finding it . Is it cool that there is no sign outside the building ? Yes because only the cool kids know it’s there but wish I’d known beforehand . That’s what I’m telling you now . It’s on the 6th floor of an elevator building with nothing out front letting you know it’s in there . Luckily we saw a man & asked & he let us know . The place is not very big but there is a lot of interesting Houdini artifacts . The gentleman behind the counter did show us one trick when we arrived that was neat . Personally I think it would be more fun to go during one of their after hours magic shows . I would go shop there only if you are really interested in magic . Please See the photo as to when the next Magic show is otherwise call to find out . I’m under the impression they are free but can’t be sure . To me that would be a better time to experience the shop . Also they have a magic summer camp for kids you might want to checkout .

Tannen’s Magic Walking into Tannen's is like walking into a mysterious and almost sacred space. Everyone gets a warm, cheerful greeting and immediately, as storied as Tannen’s, is there’s a sense that everyone is part of that story. Reed immediately offered to “show me something” and with my mind completely blown I knew that this experience was going to deepen my love for this art. Two other young men, both professional magicians / college students, were generous in both performing card sleights and offering thoughts on magic, favorite books and celebrating the feeling of experiencing tricks that feel like real magic. Tannen’s has been owned by Adam Blumenthal since 2010. He was working today and was incredibly helpful and fascinating to talk to. Visiting Tannen’s made me want to practice, invest time and resources into expanding my skill and understanding. I hope when you go that you’ll give yourself a lot of time and that you will allow your inner seven year old to really enjoy it. I did and I can’t wait to go back. I’ve loved magic my whole life and have chosen this year to be where I start to take it seriously. Every magician at any level will feel like they are in the absolute right place. UPDATE: The next day I booked a one hour, in person private lesson. It was with Reed and I wanted to focus on card magic. It was incredible. He met me at the shop one hour before opening and we hit the ground running and packed so much in. Reed is an incredibly focused, articulate and effective teacher.

My buddy and I had the best time here. Got some private lessons from Lee and they have a great magic show in the shop a few nights a week after the store closes. A must stop shop whenever you’re in the area.
