This is not a safe place if you’re a woman or someone concerned with privacy. I went with my boyfriend last night and while the bartender asked us both for ID’s, he only turned to ask me (in front of a packed bar) what my address was. It’s not safe to tell complete strangers where you live, especially not at a bar. He claimed it was to test if I had a fake ID. A simple google search will tell you a multitude of other (safer) ways to see if an ID is fake if that is a legitimate concern. I’ve been going to balcony club for the past few years and have never been singled out in such a way. Not that it matters, but my ID is real, I’m almost 30 years old and I ordered a gin drink that not a lot of young people would order. The jazz band was great, but having to recite my address in front of strangers felt really weird and demeaning. We left shortly after since we couldn’t get into the groove following that encounter. We saw the bartender smoking a cigarette in front of the entrance on our way out and told him to never ask a woman her address in front of strangers at a bar again. However, I’m concerned to return and wanted to share my experience to help warn others. If you’re anyone not wanting to have your safety compromised, be aware of a possibly uncomfortable encounter with the bald bartender at Balcony Club.

The band of the night (Gabby and the Birds) is fantastic. Jazzy root but extremely danceable. Couples and singles type dancing. The venue itself is quaint and intimate, friendly, mature crowd, clean establishment and welcoming to all (to include LGBTQ)

We checked this place out on a Saturday night, the music was great but that's pretty much the only good thing about this place. Atmosphere is nice but a bit too crowded for such a small place, not enough seating, you have to push your way in to get closer to the stage at the back of the room and I suppose you have to get there early otherwise you're standing the entire time. Cocktails could be better too. There was a $15 cover charge at the door.

A small yet authentic place where you can listen to live music. The entrance fee is $15. May be worth arriving either early or late to avoid the crowds as the venue is quite small and busy. The music is simply great and by far one of the best places to listen to blues, jazz and classic rock. You may need to stand up for a long time but it is worth it. Drink prices are reasonable, I had a gin and tonic for $8. Free parking but limited spots.

We had a great time here, awesome atmosphere and the jazz was the best I heard in a long time, the performance was amaizing and we had a wonderfull time. Dont miss this place when you are in Dallas. Go on spoil yourself, you deserve it!
