Been there couples time before and dine in there. BUT I ordered Togo yesterday, the shrimp are NOT FRESH, you can taste that. But before I dine in the shrimp quality is good. Won’t go back again, waste my money.

We went on a weekday and the two of us were seated right away in a booth. Our wonderful server was Ron and he did a great job advising us what to order. I would say that this place would be better suited for larger groups. They did not have a seafood bucket with a variety of seafood like other restaurants. Each order for the seafood boil had a 1 lb minimum, except for shrimp where you can order ½ lb. Since there were only two of us, we were limited on what we could order. We ordered 1 lb of Alaskan snow crab legs, 1 lb of clams, and ½lb of shrimp (with heads). All in the Sha Bang sauce, which was pretty tasty. We were advised to order it in Mild. Glad we did because it did have a little heat and Medium might have been a bit too spicy. Food came out pretty quickly. It was fun to dump everything on the table and eat with our hands. We were given bibs, gloves, lots of napkins, crackers, lemons, salt and pepper, melted butter, and hand wipes. Not much of a selection for alcohol drinks and no wine.

Solid spot. We ordered the king crab and calamari—both hit the mark. The vibe was great, and Chris (our waiter) really made the experience smooth—shout out to him. Definitely coming back next time I’m in town.

What types of activities can you enjoy at The Boiling Crab?

Although The Boiling Crab is not an activity center in the traditional sense, the interactive nature of its dining sets it apart from typical restaurants. Eating seafood boils here becomes an engaging group activity rather than just a meal. The primary “activity” is peeling, cracking, and sharing plates of freshly boiled seafood, which turns the dining table into a lively, hands-on communal experience. Guests often find themselves caught up in fun competitions over who can clean their plate fastest or who gets the most meat, sparking playful banter. Furthermore, the restaurant’s environment supports this social dynamic with casual seating designed for groups and a relaxed but energetic ambiance that invites guests to stay, chat, and enjoy their time. For those new to seafood boils, trying out different spices and sauces offered by The Boiling Crab can also be an activity—describing, sharing, and debating spice levels and flavor combinations adds to the entertainment. Overall, the dining itself is an experience and shared adventure that brings groups closer together.

Why is The Boiling Crab perfect for group meetups?

The Boiling Crab is tailor-made for groups because it embraces a communal dining style that fosters interaction and fun. Unlike formal dining settings where cutlery and plated courses create distance, here the act of eating becomes tactile and collective, with seafood piled in buckets or on covered tables for everyone to dig in together. The restaurant provides large-serving options and combo meals designed to satisfy groups, so you won’t have to worry about anyone going hungry or having limited choices. Its casual setup means you can relax, make noise, and enjoy each other’s company without worrying about disrupting other patrons. Many locations are spacious enough to accommodate bigger parties, and staff are experienced in managing group orders efficiently. On top of that, the menu’s diverse offerings accommodate different dietary preferences within groups, with options including crab, shrimp, lobster, clams, oysters, and even seasonal crawfish. This inclusivity ensures that everyone in your party can find something delicious to enjoy, making it an ideal venue for celebrations, casual hangouts, or family dinners.

Whether it's a weekend hangout or a special occasion, the setting encourages guests to linger and enjoy one another’s company in style and comfort.

What else should groups know before visiting The Boiling Crab?

Groups planning to visit The Boiling Crab should consider that popular locations may have wait times, especially on weekends, due to the restaurant's widespread appeal. Being prepared for a bit of a wait helps, and arriving early or making reservations where possible can ease this. Since the dining style is casual and messy, it's wise to dress comfortably and expect to get your hands dirty—it’s part of the fun! Also, some menu items such as crab or crab legs are priced market-rate, which can vary, so budgets should allow some flexibility. If anyone in your group has shellfish allergies or dietary restrictions, it’s smart to check the menu options carefully ahead of time. Lastly, keep in mind that The Boiling Crab’s diverse menu and large portions mean it’s an excellent place to share dishes, encouraging guests to order several items so everyone can try a bit of everything.

By choosing The Boiling Crab for your next group meetup, you ensure a delightful blend of bold flavors, interactive dining, and a warm, fun atmosphere that brings friends and family together in the most memorable way.
