I've been supporting this place for years, donating and shopping, despite the fact that most of their volunteer staff don't know how to deal with customers. They follow you around and try to chat you up, but if you ask them for any help, they just brush you off. The volunteers also cannot do the math, but somehow, they always manage to overcharge me and then frown when I bring it to their attention. Today an older lady sat right in front of me while I was looking through a bin, chatting me up (well it was more of a monologue about how she only buys new stuff). When I went to the changing room, this tall guy scolded me for trying to bring too many items inside, "Our policy is three items." So I obliged, bringing three items at the time. The entire time I was changing, he stayed near where it was easy to peek through the changing room curtains while discussing with the other two salespeople how much people steal. Then, when I was finished, he would not move out of my way, sporting a smirk on his face at a 2 ft distance from me. I would not be shopping in this dump anymore as I've observed on an ongoing basis a bias towards people who are not white American, as in people with accents and of different ethnicities are being talked to condescendingly and treated like their business is not good enough. This happened to me in a way I could not ignore, feeling accused of trying to steal when actually trying to buy, which I brought up with the volunteers. They (I assume the tall guy) then got the manager to speak to me angrily about me being rude to them, not acknowledging that I felt harassed. I am not sure what programs they have and how they support the community, but it looks like they are primarily collecting people's donations to sell them at high prices and support their salaries. Getting the center director involved didn't help either; I would have expected her to have more authority over the manager, especially when she stated, "People who donate steal all the time." Instead, the manager should have acknowledged that her volunteers ganged up on intimidating me, and apologized.

After stopping into the used bookstore down the street and quickly walking out (a single used paperback was $17!) I thought to pop in here. The staff were friendly and helpful. I walked out with exactly what I was looking for: $17 for the entire stack!

It should be illegal for them to claim they are a thrift store. They have antique store prices for items they received for free. There was a small rug for $1,300 in there and that was the sale price. Ridiculous.

This shop has a cute, eclectic atmosphere and serves a good cause. The staff are super friendly and you can sometimes find hidden treasures. I will say that the prices can be slightly delusional at times, for example selling plastic knockoffs of high end leather boots for designer prices, and occasionally listing things for higher than they would be new. I think this is a case of the pricer not understanding what is being donated, or getting prices from similar items on eBay. When I told them about the boots being knockoffs and the reasons for coming to that conclusion, they were taken off the display to be repriced. MOST items are very reasonably priced for a thrift store. Lots of times the stuff with the higher ticket prices are excluded from any sales, which sucks because I see those things sit unpurchased for weeks.
