Assistance League of Seattle is a dedicated all-volunteer nonprofit organization committed to removing barriers to education for at-risk and under-resourced students across Seattle and the greater King County area. Founded in 1962, this chapter of the National Assistance League focuses on providing essential support to children, teens, and adults who face financial hardships that impact their educational opportunities. One of the standout programs is Operation School Bell, which annually provides new clothing and footwear to over 3,000 students in more than 60 local schools, boosting their self-confidence and encouraging better attendance. Beyond clothing, the organization extends its support through educational scholarships and financial aid for young adults to continue their education, amplifying its positive community impact. With over 150 members and community volunteers contributing more than 25,000 hours of service annually, Assistance League of Seattle has built a strong, caring community network. Their thrift shop also supports this mission by selling donated clothing and household items to the public. Operating transparently as a 501(c)(3) organization, Assistance League of Seattle reinvests a high percentage of its resources directly into its programs, achieving an impressive community impact rate of approximately 87%. I have found several silk blouses and camisoles, Italian leather shoes, and even a Lanvin skirt. Plus, books and a suitcase. This is a small place in an old house so no furniture, mostly clothing. Definitely worth checking weekly if you live nearby. If not, drop in when you’re in the neighborhood, but check their hours first, as they are quite limited. Volunteer-staffed by Assistance League members. NOTE: They no longer take cash due to a break-in. So plan to use debit/credit. I have seen them kindly hold someone’s selections until they could come back with their card though. While you’re in the neighborhood, check out the novelty shop, Archie McPhee’s, Sock Monster, and Fuel Coffee (which is also a mini-bookstore now, curated by Ada’s Technical Books). It makes a lovely afternoon. For a delicious lunch, I like Grand Central Cafe.

Such a great little thrift store for a great cause (educational scholarships). Lots of treasures, good prices, such great friendly staff!

This is my number 1 donation place. The proceeds go to clothe homeless and low income kids. What could be better? Wonderful staff of volunteers who are always grateful to receive and also helpful in the shop. They are all so dedicated and do an amazing job.

Overpriced. Not a very large selection. There were good brands but they were pricey for a thrift store. I found a few things. They won't give you a printed receipt. I haven't seen any businesses requiring masks currently but they make everyone wear them here.

A great place to browse with some really nice finds. Not nearly as picked over as the big thrift stores.
