Opening Night at the Dallas Opera was Amazing! This biggest draw getting season tickets this year was the schedule. I saw new selections that either I missed or never seen in Dallas. The Magic Flute was a great way to kick off the season. I was completely enthralled with the idea and had no information about the opera. As you approach The Winspear Opera House, it’s very dark walking up and then vibrant colors meet you at the stairs. The area is had colorful animals up and down the entrance and crouching over the elevator looking to pounce. This was the perfect opera to introduce young children or non-opera goers. It was beautiful to watch and listen. I’m so excited for this year and anticipate every performance.

One of the pride and joy of the Dallas Opera to finally have their own theatre. Acoustics are excellent and the sightlines are good. Combining modern and classic themes, the Winspear Opera House appears more like a mega cineplex rather than an opera house with insuffient restrooms for both gender.

I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed going to the opera! I didn’t realize this was the opening night for the season, cool thing to know for next time. I did sit up so high (as you can see) it was hard to see where the queen was singing from (the top of the pyramid). Uugh Ooh.

We have been attending opera performances in Dallas since 2000 without any interruptions. Before the construction of the Winspear Opera House in 2010, the performances used to take place at the Fair Park Theater. The Winspear Opera House is a beautiful venue with great acoustics, particularly if you sit in the mezzanine. Over the years, we have witnessed unforgettable performances, such as Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte. However, we felt we wasted our money this past Sunday on Gounod's Romeo et Juliette. We are not sure if it was due to a budget problem arising from a lack of private funding or if it was because of DEI policies. Nevertheless, the orchestra remains the strongest aspect of the performances. The three-star rating is compared with other venues of large cities in Europe and the US.
