I love their pizza but lately when I try to call it in, they don't answer the phone. I was there at 11:02 AM one day and I ask the lady, have they open yet? She said I don't know and kept doing what she was doing on the patio. I checked the front door and it was locked so I left. Her customer service was terrible. I've never seen her before. It wasn't the lady I usually see. The pizza is great though. The nightlife is great too. It's cool and laid back when I go.

Man every time I come here I have a blast! The drinks are strong and the food is actually pretty good! It’s clearly a primarily black establishment and I Love that because I’ve yet to see drama or a fight. Love this place! And Mike is madd dope!

Lord, let me tell y’all what went down. We ordered our drinks with that red-haired waitress, and chile… she clearly forgot about us. Twenty minutes later, no drinks, and she hadn’t done a thing. By then, another waitress had to step up and actually bring us our drinks but honey, they were all watered down. Then I get my receipt and realize that same red-haired waitress went and added extra drinks to our tab! Child, I was so disappointed. This whole experience was sloppy, careless, and just not right

This place was absolutely amazing. Came in on a Monday for the all-you-can-eat catfish and was thoroughly surprised. At only $12 for the plate you can eat as much perfectly crispy fried catfish as you like. And the tartar sauce that's housemaid is absolutely divine. The best part of our experience was the server honey she was absolutely amazing you guys must go see her. Even has a nice nightlife with pool tables and live DJ. If you've never been here be sure to get in and check them out

Why is The Hideaway ideal for hosting group meetups?

The Hideaway’s layout and vibe make it an especially smart choice for group meetups. Its relatively intimate size strikes a perfect balance—not so big that your group feels lost or disconnected, but spacious enough to accommodate gatherings without a cramped feeling. The seating arrangements often include booths and communal tables that foster easy conversation and inclusivity, letting everyone join in on the fun. The informal nature of the venue means visitors can drop by with little advance planning, and the walk-up order service model reduces wait times for food and drinks, helping larger groups avoid the common hassle of complex ordering systems. Moreover, the staff is known for their friendly attitude and efficiency, ensuring that group needs are met quickly and smoothly, even during busier periods. In terms of location, being “hidden away” from the main street or tucked in a basement adds a sense of privacy and exclusivity, which many groups appreciate for celebrations or just a chill night out away from noise and crowds. Finally, the mix of affordable prices, enjoyable food, and fun activities creates excellent value for money, making The Hideaway accessible for both casual meetups and more planned social gatherings.

What kind of food and drink can groups expect at The Hideaway?

Popular choices include sandwiches, such as pulled pork variations, which are flavorful and satisfying without being overly filling. The menu may also feature rotating items like lunch tacos, adding variety and excitement to the culinary offerings. For groups, this snack-style menu works well because it encourages sharing and sampling multiple items, turning eating into a communal activity rather than a solo affair. As for drinks, the bar offers a decent selection of beverages, including standard cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic options. While the drinks may not wow with unique mixology flair, they’re reliably enjoyable, refreshing, and priced reasonably for a group setting. This balance between tasty small bites and approachable drinks simplifies coordinating group orders and reduces the stress of catering to diverse tastes. Many patrons appreciate that their food and drinks 'hit the spot' without breaking the bank, which is a crucial factor when hosting larger parties or recurring meetups.

What practical things should group planners know about The Hideaway?

Since the venue is often a favorite among locals, especially during lunch hours or weekends, it can become quite busy, so arriving a bit earlier or calling ahead for availability can help secure good seating. The order system is primarily walk-up, meaning there is no dedicated server taking group orders at the table, which streamlines service but could require some coordination within the group to manage food and drink requests efficiently. The menu’s focus on snacks rather than full meals means groups might want to plan additional food stops if a substantial dinner is desired, or consider complementing The Hideaway’s offerings with outside catering for larger parties. Accessibility may vary depending on its location, especially since it is described as tucked away or in a basement, so checking on parking and ease of entry beforehand is advisable for guests with mobility concerns. Lastly, the overall casual and unpretentious style of The Hideaway means that groups can dress comfortably and expect a laid-back setting without any formal requirements, making it a stress-free choice for spontaneous get-togethers.
