Great 1 hour lecture beforehand about how to draw with your body, not just your mind. Lots of short charcoal sketches and one longer drawing at the end.

This is a great art school! Mark is a very supportive and highly qualified teacher and does a great job of encouraging people who may be new to painting or have lots of experience. You can either take classes or just use the studio. It is a super comfortable place to paint because you’re surrounded by other painters at all different levels and everyone is super friendly and supportive.

Mark’s studio is very relaxed and fun. We experimented with lots of materials and supplies and did several exercises that helped me increase my drawing and painting skills. Definitely going back!

I have always want to see if I could do something more creatively, but the reality of life dictates that I first focus on making a living and nurture my family. Well, after years, and I mean years in finance and investments, I now found I could devote some time to my artistic pursue. It’s like turning a new page in my life to realize that your friends and acquaintances actually appreciate your oil paintings! Wow! More importantly, I found the process of creating each painting to be totally rewarding and addictive. The element of surprise is always present in abstract painting. Mark Miller, the owner of Miller Art School has been very helpful and patient in teaching and guiding me, a total novice, for the past 6 months. The other artists in residence are also so generous in sharing their techniques and “trade secrets”. It’s a fun group and a great place to hook up for artists, students and patrons.
