We had such a great experience at The Pit! Our server Kay was absolutely amazing! She was super attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out fast and exactly how we wanted it. The food was delicious from start to finish. Highly recommend the mac and cheese, the BBQ soy nuggets, and the mashed potatoes with gravy which were all packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. Definitely a must-visit spot in Raleigh if you’re craving good Southern comfort food and great service. We’ll be back!

Decided to stop here for lunch on the recommendation of my hotel staff after they kicked me out at 11am and my flight isn’t until 5pm. Got here at 11:15am on a Friday, and there was almost nobody there, which was actually kind of nice compared to some of the other reviews where the place was packed. Bartender was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu, and easy to talk to, kudos to the customer service. I ordered a triple meat plate, with the ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. The pork was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was nice and juicy. The ribs had good flavor, but in my opinion, they were way overcooked. “Fall off the bone” to me generally means overcooked, and that’s exactly what these ribs did… they didn’t have any bite to them. The flavor was good though. The food was good, but wasn’t really mind blowing and special to me. This is just a personal opinion though, and I have a favoritism toward Texas style bbq.

Had dinner at The Pit while visitting Raleigh from out of state. We ordered the pit sampler for appetizer, and I ordered the big boy meat combo for my meal. I was disappointed with the sampler appetizer.. particularly the egg rolls.. the flavor just didn't work. The meat combo on the other hand was delicious and moist. Make sure to get the cornbread. Worth the stop if in the area and wanting BBQ.

Tried The Pit’s all you can eat family style while visiting Raleigh. The deviled eggs, hush puppies, biscuits, and brunswick stew was great. And the service was friendly and fast. However, the BBQ (ribs and BBQ fries) was on the drier side and lacked the smoky moist depth you’d expect if you’re from the South. Potato salad didn’t really have much flavor compared to HEB’s potato salad. Myself I don’t eat much banana pudding, but my friend said it was good, so I’ll take his word for it. Solid experience overall with the atmosphere for a plate with apps, but BBQ lovers might find it a bit underwhelming if you went for the all you can eat option.

The food was ok, the ribs are great, but the shredded pork and turkey were a little too shredded for me. Flavours were good, I really liked the creamed corn and slaw. Portions are massive, plenty to take home with you. I've never had strawberry flavoured corn bread for an appetizer though, that was unique.
