Just do it — I went in for a beginners class, and feel I came away knowing more in two hours than I have having tried to buy books and watch videos. It may be uncomfortable, at first, and it certainly felt awkward sitting in a room with people who have a similar interest. I really recommend it. On a more practical note, perhaps what might make it easier is for instructors to pair or nudge people (strangers) who did not come as a couples, so they can do the more advanced techniques on others (group by arbitrary assignment, same gender, etc).

Finally!!! A space that truly establishes safety for all: POC, trans, wiccan... You name it, you are respected. And this continues to teaching safety protocols and communication. As a woman attending alone, I found this to be a relief. After attending a few workshops, I felt I was developing community. Entrance is on the alley next to the mural--you need to know this! The Rope Collective has a variety of educators who have a great deal of experience and knowledge. They are passionate about the topics they teach and very approachable. The variety of workshops is a delight. This space caters to the novice and the one who has been enjoying their skills for some time.
