What a great experience! I’ve always wanted to learn to throw pottery on the wheel and I’m so glad I found Trade Oak Cliff! I took a 2-hr one session class, and because there were only 4 of us with our instructor, Cullen (@ceramicsbycullen), we had his undivided, expert attention, giving each person the individual instruction they needed. He was a kind, encouraging, and knowledgeable instructor, knowing exactly what trick to use to get our projects (we completed two!) back on track when things were maybe going a bit awry on our wheels. We had the confidence of knowing we were in great hands as he reminded us beginners to relax and go “easy on/easy off” with our hands. It was a great evening playing in the mud, learning the beginning skills of this beautiful craft. I’ll be back for more classes with Cullen (and the Corrie Pocta team!). Trade Oak Cliff is a great, welcoming, community-focused studio as well, located in the very cool Tyler Station, and nestled in the Elmwood area of Oak Cliff.

By offering both drop-in sessions and curated event experiences, Trade Oak Cliff ensures every group leaves feeling connected and creatively fulfilled.

What other creative opportunities await at Trade Oak Cliff beyond pottery? In addition to pottery, the studio hosts classes in natural dyeing and eco-printing, which allow groups to make vibrant textiles using sustainable methods. Sewing workshops help you turn those dyed fabrics into wearable art or home decorations. Crochet classes add a cozy, hands-on element to your skills set, perfect for making personalized gifts or fun accessories. Because all these arts are beginner-friendly, group members can learn side-by-side without any pressure, sparking group encouragement and shared pride in progress. The candle-making sessions introduce a different type of creativity — blending scents and crafting containers, which appeals to those interested in DIY wellness and home décor. The mixed-media workshops teach layering of inks, watercolors, and pastels, broadening the artistic scope. This broad spectrum of classes ensures that no matter your group's interests, there’s something engaging for everyone.
