Had my birthday there, and you can absolutely taste the good quality of the food there. Recommend their premium family combo, I’ll say it’s a good amount for 1-2 people. The regular beef tongue is also a great option. Really nice service, the only problem is it’s a little pricey, but fair enough for what you get.

A very nice Japanese Yakiniku style restaurant (beef, vegetables, chicken or others that you grill on the table). They have a good selection of different meat and meat quality. All was excellent, and you can really taste the difference between the different quality levels. The staff were very friendly and professional, and provided excellent service. I really liked the nice, cozy atmosphere, with individual booths and wood paneling. Definitely a fun place to come to when you have that craving for tasty yakiniku bbq!

This was our first visit to a Japanese BBQ restaurant, so our basis for comparison is Korean BBQ which we eat frequently. The grill setup and raw foods were very similar, but we were majorly disappointed. There were no oils or seasonings available, and only 2 sauces which you had to ask to have refilled. All food had to be ordered a la cart instead of being available buffet style. The meat we ordered (family dinner special) was absolutely delicious. But the experience was tainted by the vegetables not being included and being WAY overpriced for very small variety and portions. It seems to me that vegetables and rice should be included when ordering expensive meat combinations so we felt nickeled and dime, and left unsatisfied even though we spent more than we do at the buffet style BBQ places. There were many Japanese-looking people there that seemed happy, so maybe Japanese BBQ is just not for us. That said, since the food is so similar, we greatly prefer buffet-style BBQ where you can get whatever combination of veggies, meats, seasonings, and sides you want. The higher quality meat we had at Tsuruhashi (which again was truly delicious) wasn’t enough to tilt the scales enough for us to go back. The service was excellent, staff friendly, and the seating very comfortable.

Great Yakiniku BBQ plan in SD. They offer both Japanese and American Wagyu. Very good quality of meat selections. They also offer Korean style vegetable pickle combo, soon tofu soup and Bibimbap. Attentive service from the staff. Will come back here again next time when I am in town.

The restaurant serves good food, but at an obscene price. The “family combo” was the size of a single person meat platter at any decent shabu or bbq. Snack before showing up. A5 ends up being decently priced for some reason??? But other beef is not.

All these factors combine to craft an environment that enhances social connection through food and shared experience.
What practical considerations should one know before visiting Tsuruhashi for a group meetup?
When planning a visit to Tsuruhashi with a group, a few logistical points can help make the outing smoother. Because the restaurant’s popularity leads to high demand, especially during dinner hours, it is advisable to call ahead to reserve a spot or get on the waitlist early. Wait times can extend from 10 minutes to over an hour during peak times, so planning accordingly avoids unnecessary delays. Parking might sometimes be tight due to the shared strip mall location, but the availability of several nearby restaurants means alternate parking options exist if initial spots are full. Pricing tends to be a bit higher than average for Japanese BBQ because of the quality of ingredients, so budgeting accordingly ensures a relaxed experience without surprises. Additionally, Tsuruhashi is better suited for groups who enjoy interactive dining since each guest participates in cooking; those who prefer fully served meals might find it less ideal. Lastly, the restaurant’s service staff are known to be kind and accommodating, offering excellent support for groups managing multiple orders and grilling together.
