A beautiful evening. 59 degrees Friday 1/3/2025, unbelievably warm. Music Film of John Williams were sold out both evenings. Conductor, David Robertson, has style and grace. He was entertaining with a sense of humor and kept the audience laughing; he was well liked and well received. The concert started at 7:30pm. The music soundtracks started with E. T., and Harry Potter Hedwig's themes and started the audience with delight and cheerful claps, followed by the big she-bang....."Imperial March"...The concert hall vibes rised to another level. We felt the entire concert hall was marching with its rhythm in every beat. Next up was "Jurassic Park" and "Indiana Jones"; continuous fabulous momentum. The orchestra band members were dressed to the nine, black dress shirts or black dressy blouse, gray or black slacks. They were more than ready to perform and to entertain. The themes went on to one of our favorite and unexpected soundtrack.....Superman, we could imagine Christopher Reeves flying in the air with his infamous red-blue cape with a large letter "S" on his chest. The tunes were those of the late actor flying in the sky in the movie. The music and the sound throughout the concert hall were phenomenal. Schindler's List, a tragic theme coordinating with the movie, beautifully played by the lead violinist; a sorrowful soundtrack the way of emotions in that the music forces you to imagine the same situation that the performer was in. The beat goes on, next up was everyone's favorite music...."Star Wars" and other familiar movie music film soundtracks. At 9:00pm, an intermission break. Returned to the concert hall, the music film soundtrack continued on with another full :45 minutes of highly entertaining-beautiful-exciting songs to complete the evening. The concert ended right at 10:00pm. In closing, if you have not visited Maurice Abravenal Hall, you owe yourself a visit. And if you have been to Abravenal Hall multiple times, it is time to return for other entertaining concert events. Music Film of John Williams was a huge success. Standing ovations throughout the entire evening. It was obvious guests truly enjoyed the concert and had a fabulous-unforgettable evening. The conductor asked if the guests would like to sing a Happy Birthday song to John Williams. Everyone participated, the concert hall was filled with pure, joyful happy birthday singing to the famed music composer-conductor (David Robertson who led the evening, recorded everyone singing it live to John Williams with Robertson's mobile phone). Robertson voiced he will forward the happy birthday song to Sir John Williams. Sir Williams' birthday is next month, Feb 2025. A grand finale to close the evening with class and grace; and call it a night. The orchestra members were the stars and the pillars who demonstrated what a fine concert is like prior to ending the show. We visited Utah Symphony countless times. Events attended were Ravel's, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beauty & the Beast, and many other concerts. Utah Symphony delivers.

Please attend performances by accomplished musicians as well as touring musicians from out of state. The symphony adds so much character to downtown Salt Lake and gives outstanding performances. A colorful Chihuly sculpture is found in the lobby and the building is beautiful. It is nicely located near Temple Square.

I'm always in awe of my experience at Abravanel Hall. It's become a tradition to see Celtic Woman every year for their Christmas concert. We always sit on one of the side tiers - great view of the stage, great vantage point for people watching, and the tickets are a little cheaper. When I manage a glance away from those incredibly gifted women and the orchestra accompanying them, I'm rewarded by the glitter of the soft light bouncing off the gorgeously giant chandeliers. As if things could get any more magical.
