When asking yourself about something to do near me in Sunnyvale with a group of friends or family, consider
Walgreens

Why Walgreens is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family
Walgreens is a prominent American pharmacy store chain, established in 1901 by Charles Rudolph Walgreen in Chicago. As of March 2025, it operates over 8,700 stores throughout the United States, making it the second-largest pharmacy chain after CVS Pharmacy. Walgreens stores typically present as freestanding corner stores with entrances facing the street of highest traffic, embodying the traditional 'corner drugstore' feel. Many outlets feature drive-through pharmacies for added convenience and have a store layout that is generally spacious, with newer locations showcasing modern designs. The chain not only offers pharmacy services but also provides photo services, as well as a wide array of health and beauty products. Some flagship locations, especially in large cities like New York and Chicago, boast multiple floors, enhancing the shopping experience. While some products such as tobacco and alcoholic beverages are available behind the registers in most stores, regulations vary by state, influencing availability in certain locations. Walgreens has a strong presence aimed at serving community health needs and integrates digital platforms to offer anytime, anywhere convenience to its customers, contributing to its role as a key player in the healthcare and retail ecosystem.
Here's what people think of Walgreens
As of recent, Walgreens holds a 2.8-star rating based on 63 reviews.
User reviews of Walgreens present a mixed perspective, reflected in its current rating of 2.8 out of 5 from approximately 63 reviews. Positive reviews frequently highlight the convenience of multiple store locations and the accessibility of pharmacy services including drive-through options, which contribute to a practical experience for daily essentials and urgent pharmaceutical needs. Customers appreciate the broad selection of health and beauty products and the modernization efforts in newer stores which make shopping more pleasant. Additionally, Walgreens’ role within local communities through health initiatives and its digital platform for ease of access are commonly noted advantages.
On the other hand, negative reviews often focus on several operational and service issues encountered by customers. Complaints include discrepancies between shelf pricing and checkout prices leading to overcharges, occasional availability and stocking problems, concerns regarding the quality of service from staff, and experiences of delays or inefficiencies at the pharmacy counter. Some reviews reflect frustration with store cleanliness or layout inconsistencies between locations, while others mention dissatisfaction with the handling of prescription medications or customer service responses. The company’s public controversies related to lawsuits and operational challenges have also influenced public perception.
In conclusion, Walgreens remains a vital and convenient option for pharmacy and retail needs with notable strengths in accessibility and product variety. However, improvement areas highlighted by customer feedback suggest a need for better consistency in service quality, pricing transparency, and overall customer experience to enhance its reputation and user satisfaction.

This review is specifically for the pharmacy department. I had several prescriptions that needed to be filled and was on a tight schedule. I informed the staff that I was in a hurry and they were very fast and efficient in getting all of my prescriptions filled in an expedient manner. The technicians did a fantastic job of filling all the bottles and labeling everything quite clearly for me and the pharmacist on duty at the time did a very thorough job of explaining all the medications to me. I am very happy with the prompt and courteous service provided by this particular pharmacy and would highly recommend it to any potential customers.

Today I visited Walgreens and bought a picture frame. Jayson was incredibly helpful and kind while guiding me through the Walgreens app. I highly recommend this location on W. Fremont Ave!

Unhappy staff members, either mean or coldly indifferent. I feel sorry for them, and hope their lives are not as miserable as their faces show. I normally definitely would go to the CVS off Hollenbeck instead of this Walgreens except for some merchandises only available here.

Archana has been very helpful with the passport photo and was very friendly.

I might be slightly biased as this store is really close to my house (10 or so minute walk), but I have to say it isn't that bad. I used to use Amazon cash, and every time, the cashiers did not know how and struggle. They would eventually get it after calling the manager, but that's just an extra 5 minutes on top of a simple transaction. I generally only go there to get snacks, so when I saw that they don't have my favorite (pretty common) chocolates in store (on their website), I don't really want to believe it. So I go anyway, and, guess what? There they were! At least 5 large packs of them, too! While I do say the website isn't too trustworthy, it worked out for me anyway. All in all, the service is kind of poor, although I do think they are trying. I haven't had anyone be outright rude to me, and I've been going for years. The website could use some work. But the general quality of the store, as well as the variety of items, is pretty solid. It's okay for me! 👍
