This place is so cool!! It houses ill and injured soldiers who are being released from active duty due to various circumstances. Each warrior gets a cottage to call home. They are given the ability to get enrolled in college or a tradeschool,to play wheelchair basketball as well as hunt and fish. they are close enough to Balboa Naval hosp so they can get to and from appointments, they are mentored and guided all along the way! What a great way to honor those who put themselves out there in harms way. This organization also takes no government funding. everything is donor funded as well as lots of fundraising. They have an amazing volunteer force that gives of their time and knowledge to achieve goals. They are getting ready to launch Freedom Station 3 in August of 2024. This is just incredible!!!

We just received a info-card in the mail sharing an exciting tradition we were unaware of. "Send a Warrior Home for the Holidays". Donate to enable our brave and courageous men and women to fly our ill and recovering troops home for the Holidays. We are in our 70's, we have no children and extended family have more than they will ever appreciate. Now think of the emotional lifting of their spirits in the impact that we can make for these brave and courageous men and women by redirecting dollars spent on trinkets for family members to those who have given years of their lives and, in many cases, limbs, for us, so that they may see their families at this most glorious times of the year. Some military men and women, due to the severity of their injuries, have been unable, in the past, to visit their families by themselves. This program, Send a Warrior Home for the Holidays, now makes that possible! Think about the opportunity you are being afforded: sending someone who may not have seen family in years, home for the Holidays. Please don't let them spend another Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa [forgive me if I've left a Holiday season out!] alone and relying on emails or phone calls for family contact. Holiday Blessing to them and to you for your generous spirit!
