Ok now this is my favorite stop so far. This was a location for a harvest host stop. Places we have stayed so far have been more country but we loved this little gem tucked into the south side. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was breathtaking outside and inside it was elegant . we loved the mead amd the menu. You are parked right by the train tracks so if you are a light sleeper you will hear that, besides that it was quite outside. I loved hearing about the bees too! Great stop!

The wine is worth every sip. The aviance is amazing. The service was above and beyond. I also had an order shipped to Virginia for my daughter. The shipping package was extremely careful with how the bottles were placed. They really out did themselves. Please go by and experience it for yourselves. Wait the outside area is well lite and has different sections to entertain. I can go on and on, but what fun is that? This is a hidden gem.

Stopped in for a tasting. Yummy meads and a few wines too. Plenty of room to sit. Nice outdoor area. Meads are more fruit forward flavor. We enjoyed ourselves. Edna was very helpful, friendly, and had some great recommendations. Also found out they hold wine making events from a kit. Can’t wait to do that.

How is the mead at Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery crafted, and why does it enhance the group experience?

Understanding how Wild Blossom crafts its mead adds a captivating layer to any visit and makes the tasting experience more meaningful for groups. Wild Blossom’s mead starts with honey harvested from local beehives placed in distinct natural environments such as the roof of the Marriott Magnificent Mile in Chicago, the Ogden Dunes, and reclaimed parkland formerly a steel mill site. This local sourcing not only sustains bee populations but also imparts unique regional floral flavors to their honey, which then translates directly into the taste of the mead. The honey is extracted from honeycomb through a centrifuge and then combined with water and yeast to ferment—a process that converts the sugars into alcohol naturally over several weeks. Some of their meads incorporate frozen fruit to introduce fresh, bold fruit notes through a gentle winemaking technique that breaks down fruit cell walls for better juice extraction. This attention to detailed, artisanal production means customers are tasting beverages that connect them with natural cycles and local ecology, enriching the group experience through storytelling and flavor discovery. Sharing knowledge about how the mead is made often leads to dynamic conversations among friends, deepening appreciation and bonding over a craft that’s both ancient and innovative.
