The fact that the trail from wisdom tree to Hollywood sign is not thronged with tourists all day, every day is a mystery to me. Must be the most magical urban hike in the world. Strenuous but doable for any active person. Amazing views of both San Fernando Valley and LA, and sometimes both. 10/10 recommend. I did the loop behind wisdom tree….THAT was intense! I was all alone for over an hour and some parts involved heavy climbing. I Went the clockwise direction, I think going counter-clockwise I would have been unable because I would have slipped. That said, it was an amazing hike, not just by urban hiking standard but by any standards. Again, 10/10 recommend, but go clockwise, give yourself 90 minutes +, bring water and be prepared to climb!

You can take the short, straight up route or the longer more gradual route. Either way, there are a few spots that need your attention. I did a 7 mile loop which included going to the Hollywood sign and around Hollywood Lake. Pretty awesome hike. Be careful parking as cars get broken into.

Great trail that starts from the top of the parking for Lake Hollywood. Continue up wonder view walking and past the gate. The trail up to the tree is a steep incline but short... Under a mile. There are sweeping views of LA and the Valley and a lone "wisdom tree". From there you can continue another 30 min or so to the Hollywood sign..make sure to bring water and avoid later in the day if it's hot. There is not much tree cover

Parking is somewhat limited to get to this trail head but I greatly enjoyed this hike. The views from the top were incredible and well worth the hike.

This was a short challenging, uphill, rocky, dusty, and HOT hike. There were not a lot of trees on the way up, just larger bushes to find shade under and the trail is mostly uncovered. Bring lots of water and try to go early when it’s not so hot. I went with my 6 year old based on other reviews thinking it would be ok for him. He made it up and down but it was very challenging for him. I would say this is better for kids 10 years old and older (saw lots of tweens and teens with their parents today), than younger kids due to the steepness and heat. This could work for younger kids who are seasoned hikers and have a ton of energy to climb rocky paths. Parking was easy to find but it ebbs and flows so you could be waiting for a spot depending on the time you arrive. The tree is a welcomed oasis at the top for much needed shade, views, and cool breezes. In the end, we felt proud of our accomplishment and we were rewarded with the fruit vendors at the bottom!
