Today I brought in my Stumpjumper with GX T-type drivetrain thinking I had a bent derailleur after it gave me grief on a ride yesterday with poor shifting and grinding gears. Two Bicycle Center staff looked at it and said not only was the arm bent but that the whole derailleur body looked bent and would need replacing—the part costing $440 alone. I asked if they could at least try bending the arm back into alignment, to which they said no because it would weaken the system too much. I asked if they could replace just the cage, to which they said they were out of stock until late August. So I took my bike across the street to Guthries where they promptly told me the derailleur was not torqued properly and therefore falling out of alignment. Within five minutes they fixed it at no charge. They explained to me that the new T-Type derailleurs are modular and therefore easy to rebuild, and that the arm is supposed to flare out. See photos for comparison between my yellow bike and a new Santa Cruz. Bicycle Center, do better.

Really good service. Had derailleurs (front and back) serviced (they needed a lot of work), chain replaced and cable replaced. They did it fast for me (I had a ride I was trying go on later that day.) They charged less than another bike shop quoted me for the same service. The texting updates on the service was a plus. Overall, very pleased with the service. I would go back again!

Spoke to Chad on the phone. Wanted to get a quote on a wheel. He provided me with a quote for the wheel off the top of his head but said “that was the price when I ordered it last which has been quite some time ago so price may vary.” It felt like I was pulling teeth from him. I had to ask him to check out his distributor so he can give me a more accurate quote. He kept on bringing up wheels that were not compatible so I mentioned that maybe he can select a filter that has the right features. He then rudely told me “he’s been working there for 20 years and he doesn’t need anyone to tell him how to look things up” after he made that statement I kindly asked for his name 5 times. Finally on the 5th time asking he provided his name after ignoring me the first 4 times. Seems like employee is scared to work and trying to get by with just doing the bare minimum. If you are looking for quality customer service, this shop is not the place to go.

Great store & extremely helpful staff!! I am just getting back into cycling after a very long break & have been in twice in the past week needing help. Cameron (the tall guy) has been super patient and helpful with all of my questions and needs from helping me get new shoes and switching over my cleats for free (my old shoes literally fell apart on a ride,) to demonstrating & talking me through how to change a flat tire and then discussing bike maintenance & how to properly clean a bike! It’s always intimidating to feel like a newbie at something but these guys are there to help & don’t make not knowing something embarrassing. I love & appreciate my neighborhood Bicycle Center & will definitely be back soon— probably with more questions! Haha

This shop was great - I loved how welcomed I felt from the moment I walked in. Parking is easy (bonus points for being right next to Trader Joe’s). The service department was busy, but, a mechanic was able to help me troubleshoot a hub cap issue. I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT THEY DIDNT NEED TO MAN-SPLAIN BIKING TO ME. Hallelujah! I wish there were more bike shops with service like this. They also had a great selection of Spesh apparel and other bike accessories/tools/fuel.
