Must visit for any jazz fan/historian. The speakeasy setting felt very authentic. They have a BYOB policy which is awesome. I walked to the corner store for beer to bring back. They don’t sell any food but that didn’t deter any of us from enjoying. There’s a ton of history here and around this area.

Attending a show at Bills Place was such a special / intimate / magical experience. There was a real buzz about the venue. My girlfriend and I (both from the UK) visited in early January 2025 on the recommendation of a family member - and were blown away by the beautiful jazz and up close nature of the setting of it. We purchased some drinks from a shop nearby (you can't buy any booze at the venue) and arrived 40 mins or so ahead of the show's start time. I'd recommend arriving early as there aren't many seats directly facing the musicians - and the view from the rooms on either side will be obstructed to varying degrees. You'll leave wanting to return, and won't regret going!

This is a cozy jazz/ blues spot with a rich history in the heart of Harlem. Neither food nor alcohol is served but you are welcome to bring your own and most people do. The musicians are diverse and amazingly talented. The music is not amplified so it isn’t uncomfortably loud. Bill is a great storyteller, humorous and personable. He chats and takes photos with guests following the show.

This is the real deal. I had a religious experience listening to this music! BYO food/drinks but they have soda. Bill is very cool and the lady at the front is super sweet! Amazing, historical place and phenomenal jazz.
