Many years ago we were very poor. 4 kids and no money to give presents to my kids. We had maybe $10 after we pd our bills. We signed up for a food basket. Someone in their organization gifted us with a box of presents for my children. Some one we didn't know who added a small wallet to the basket. Thank you, whomever you were. It was the best show of love for a family who wasn't catholic. From that day on I tell everyone who wants to donate, is to need to give to the Catholic charities in Portland Ore. They have really good hearts. It was the best Christmas ever. My kids cried because they knew they were getting nothing. I cried because of the love that was shown us by strangers.

I'm so confused by this building / non-profit. They own this apartment complex and rent it out? Or they are just the one little office in the basement that you cannot even enter EVER?! They are crochety, overwhelmed, and seemingly just at clueless as I am as to what they're doing there. They NEVER have funds for anyone, especially white single women with child(ren)! They will find you a bus ticket and hopefully a pamphlet about something ... ANYTHING that might remotely be on the same wavelength as the topic of your assistance your seeking. I'm so confused as to why it's ok for rent to be increased by 442 dollars. On your site it promotes a Healthy Family Initiative to help find housing and keep housed. Yes it's voucher tenants only but the amount of increase goes above our voucher amount. Feb 1 we will pay 220 more a month. Medical equipment is not cheap and that extra amount helps. You stopped responding to me a couple months ago after saying you'd look into it, I'm guessing your employees were told not to respond. I can't believe you're ok with this just for the money. I had faith this would be a good place to live, now I'm stressed and sad.

Working with the immigration services, I had John Herrera as my lawyer. I was so excited to work with him as I had heard such great things on how fast he was at getting the process started for residency. Unfortunately, it took 3 years and thousands of dollars for my case to never go anywhere but under a stack of papers on his desk. My wife and I would call and never be able to actually talk to him, he would always put his assistant on the phone. The times that myself or my wife were able to talk to him, he was always very short and rude. Telling me to not get anymore tattoos as it can slow the process of my papers, or to not go to another lawyer because nobody would help me and that pretty much I wasn’t getting my papers. At the times we worked with him I worked and my wife wasn’t, she asked SEVERAL times if she needed to work or get off any assistance she might of been on and he said NO EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! 3 years later, we were at the same place we started at, we decided to leave and get a new lawyer who actually worked for us. I am now a citizen and happier then ever. John, you should find another job.
