I’m disappointed by the rude, disrespectful interaction with the man who answered the phone at this business. As of 6/12/25, the website has limited info, so I called the business to ask about age requirements, details about the tour path’s terrain, and whether the “comfortable bike rental” inclusion that’s mentioned in the tour description was standard or electric. At first, the man who answered the phone seemed open to helping, though some of his replies reflected his confusion about my questions. Because he asked, I told him that it would just be myself and a child coming. He then told me that we couldn’t do a tour without 6 people. I told him that I assumed we’d be added to a group with others. After some back & forth of him telling me the tour wasn’t possible, he concluded that we could be added to a group with others. Pure confusion. It seems he assumed I was inquiring about a private tour though I had never mentioned it. When asked about the tour path’s terrain (ex: smooth, rocky, inclines, declines), I never got a straight answer. Since there seemed to be confusion, I asked this question a few times using different words with each try. Still, no clear answer. He asked me how old the child was & concluded that she’d be ok - as if every child has the same capabilities. Finally, when I said, I don’t think you’re understanding my question, he abruptly, with a tone of impatience & aggravation, said that he needed to hang up because he had customers. Click. So here I was, a potential customer - who had been patient and polite, despite HIM making the 3-minute convo unnecessarily difficult - being hung up on, because he didn’t deem me as significant as the others. To be clear, I see nothing wrong with misunderstandings - we’re only human. It’s the disrespect that’s problematic…especially when coming from the very person who complicated things. I’m a part of a mentorship program that involves me planning activities & being responsible for other people’s children, so I can’t just show up without having all of the details and just hoping for the best. It would be highly disappointing for a child to look forward to something only to get there and learn that it’s not possible. An FAQ section on the website would be helpful - it would save time and aggravation on both ends. In the past, I wouldn’t bother to leave a review - and maybe I’d even call back later and still patronize the business to avoid the inconvenience of finding another option. But that’s why businesses feel emboldened to treat people poorly without consequence. So yes, it may be inconvenient to find another option, but I’m just not willing to invest in spaces that don’t treat me with respect. UPDATE: This business has replied to my review claiming that they’ve been trying to reach me to address “[MY] misunderstanding and complaints.” 😐 They state, “we were unable to reach you and received no response.” I have no missed calls from an identifiable number from this business, but more importantly, there have been no voicemails from this business requesting a call back. Why not leave a message if sincerely interested in reaching me? To add further insult to this matter, in response to my review, this business has listed my phone number on this public internet platform. That is not ok! Is this a method of retaliation? This in no way inspires me to delete my review, as they’ve requested. Posting my personal info on the internet is not ok, and it violates Googles’ privacy policy. Central Park Tours & Bike Rentals, please remove my number from your reply immediately, or I will have to report your business for this privacy violation.
