my partner and i had the pleasure of attending multiple performances here by both local and traveling musicians. there are lovely people that attend these shows and they are set in an active clay studio - delightful! my imagination of course runs amok. what if you could throw clay and be treated to an in-house band? what if your piece could be serenaded while it fired in the kiln? alas, there are completed pieces adorning hand-fashioned shelves that are as much audience members as any other human attendee. as luck would have it, there's a brand name gas purveyor located across the street, well-stocked with refreshments. i do not know if there has since been installed a convenience store inside the studio since my last visit, so this is likely the closest stop and a great convenience for when you forget your bota box at home. i like to purchase bota box wine on occasion. with twist-off caps, you interrupt an existing relationship. there's a sense of euphoria when you unscrew the cap and hold it captive in your grasp, waiting and indulging in the contents, before returning the cap to its bottle. resealing the bottle means a reunion of partners, teammates back in the huddle, lovers with arms and legs entwined once again. and the heartache of separation. the unknown. often we discard the cap after first quench. and if not then, once the beverage has been consumed, what then? do these partners forsake one another? or is it we who denounce them? shame their love and leave them forever out of reach for the other.
