Facilities are mostly good but staff at the club (rowing coaches excluded) couldn't care less about the members and are quite dishonest at times. For example, a friend of mine left some valuable necklaces at the club and, since neither of us could go back that night, I called immediately to ask if they could be put somewhere safe. I was assured over the phone that they would be, and knew the club had a safe so figured they would be secure. We came back and the necklaces were gone - presumably either lost or stolen by the staff. No one apologized and I barely got a response when following up on the search (I'm not convinced anyone put much effort into looking). I know it's not the Club's legal responsibility to take care of misplaced items, but that is still either incompetent, dishonest or both. It's ironic that there's a 24-hour surveillance camera on the snack bar to make sure you don't take a granola bar without billing yourself but the staff can't be expected to put members' valuables in a safe without losing them or stealing them. Other examples that come to mind (not exhaustive): - The rowing boats are generally poorly maintained - The (numerous) reservation systems were over-complex and barely functional, and the requirement to reserve everything means the gym will be "fully reserved" at all peak times but 3/4 empty since it incentivizes people to reserve and not show up. It's not 2020 anymore, why operate the gym like this? - My favorite one: The staff billed each member an extra $30 for a Christmas "staff gift" without asking (so with ~500 members that's $150,000 per year taken on the sly - not a bad haul!). It should go without saying that it's not a "gift" if you just take $30 in advance and hope no one notices/asks for it back. All in all, if you want dock/paddle board access then it's a solid spot, but bear in mind you are dealing with some shifty/unimpressive characters managing the club.

While certainly not as ritzy as the Seattle Yacht Club, the College Club reception and activities room is gorgeously appointed. Lovely view of Lake Union, Queen Anne Hill, the Space Needle and the neighborhood houseboats. The club room comes equipped with a pool table, shuffleboard, poker tables, fireplace, comfy seating area, kitchen, video screens and even a dart board and a selection of board games! It's cozy but there's still a sense of 'niceness' in class, even if not posh.
