If you’re not buying your bike from a local bike shop, you’re missing out. I’ve purchased bikes online to save a few bucks, who hasn’t, but nothing compares to the level of support you get from supporting your LBS. Not all shops are created equal though. I’ll never step foot in another (rhymes with Shrek) store again with their auto dealership service approach where they nickel and dime you and take you for as much as they can saying it was “scheduled” work. It’s corporate, not local, which should tell you all you need to know. Buying my mountain bike from Cycle Progression has been the best upgrade to my hobby since I started. They go above and beyond to take care of their clients with a thoughtful approach to service and the best pricing in town! I’ve since befriended the staff, because they’re all so genuinely friendly, and I look forward to the camaraderie every time I pop in.
