A nice little beach on a wonderful bluff top trail at Wilder Ranch. Note that some beaches on the trail are not accessible or are closed for wildlife preservation. Fern Grotto has a pretty easy path down from the trail. You’ll have to hike or bike out here, it’s probably a mile from the parking area. It’s somewhat smaller and a bit further than Sand Plant Beach, along same bluff top trail. Check out the cave and admire the plants growing in the walls. It’s a neat spot with high walls and a fairly narrow opening to the sea.

This place was recommended to me as one of Norther California's unique beaches. It did not disappoint. The beach itself is not very populated. It honestly doesn't look like anything special till you walk down to the beach. The grotto is tucked into the side and is absolutely gorgeous. It's absolutely worth the short hike to get to the beach. The scenery is spectacular.

One of our favorites! Secluded. Full of life. No dogs. No play structures. Goat path leads down to beach where you'll find a beautiful grotto full of supple ferns hydrated by fresh filtered ground water. Very relaxing. Clean and stocked restrooms at Trailhead near Wilder Ranch. Paid parking. Perfect for biking or walking. Pack water, light picnic, and wear proper shoes. Dirt, sand, stone, & gravel paths with some wooden bridges. Takes about 20-25 minutes to reach on foot.
