Habitat for Humanity helped my dream of homeownership become a reality. When I applied back in 2008, I received my approval within 2 weeks. Building started in my home about 3 months later. I was in my brand new home in about 9 months from the time I applied. My home was a women’s build project which means all of the volunteers that built my home were women 💪🏾! The only men who worked on my home were contractors (electricians, plumbers, etc) who did the work that we were not qualified to do. I put in the required sweat equity hours and it was an amazing experience. From putting the trusses on the roof, installing shingles, painting, putting down grass, planting the trees, etc. Habitat partnered with some amazing companies and amazing women who were so kind to come help my families dream come true. I will forever be grateful for the friendships that were built during that experience. Beyond grateful that Habitat gave me the opportunity to become a homeowner with affordable mortgage payments. I have been in my home for almost 16 years now 🙂

So I think that some opinions here are wrong because I'm a very very white latine woman, who received the best attention without problem. Not sure who are they helping but i have called a couple times to see if i can get into the system and get help in getting a house and every time they give a excuse as to why i would not be approved. This place needs to be investigated and people donating need to search it out more. To answer the reply below. The first time i applied i was told i didn't make enough money and the 2nd time i could apply because i was told my son and i can't apply because he might get married and move out i was unable to apply i was turned down. This is the reason why i have to say please investigate this location. This place is suppose to be for families in need not rich or families you think might move out in the future.

I am so thankful for this program, they helped me & my husband own our 1st house, but we had\have many disappointments...for one they didn't stand by their word in the beginning when they told us that we would get a gate, a vegetable garden, and sponsor ..we got neither. Also, they put a lot of cheap equipment in the house....the heater never worked in our AC unit which we figured out within our 1st year in the house. We had to replace the stove within the 1st year of being in the house...we also had to replace several other things: floor tiles, the microwave, AC unit, the master bathroom tub, and blinds. We also have things that have come apart in the house that we still have to replace: kitchen cabinets, master bathroom toilet, closet doors, windows, etc..Yes, we are aware of "wear & tear" but all this happened less than 5 years of being in our house. I didn't expect any of this moving into a brand new house.
