I love the vibe in this store. Everything is neat, organized, and vibrant. The variety of products and options are extensive and awesome. The prices are reasonable. The location is convenient as it’s nestled away in a not so busy area. I don’t know how I didn’t know this was there. I will be back.

It’s a small store. The gelato/ice cream is really good. The bread is good too. There is enough room to sit down & eat. Self-checkout works well. When it gets busy, it seems busier than other stores because of the narrower aisles. The beer selection does not offer inexpensive beer. It’s not my favorite Harmon’s, but still good.

Toxic Management Culture at Emigration Market Harmons, leaving a review due to HR being completely impossible to contact. I worked at the Emigration Market Harmons as a manager, and I was excited about the opportunity—until it became clear that I would never actually be allowed to do the job I was hired for. Despite being brought on with the understanding that I’d have time to manage scheduling, chemical, and other misc orders, projections, safety committee work, and attend required meetings, I was never given a chance. The moment I sat down to start any of those responsibilities, I was yelled at and told to get back on a register. I was expected to cashier my entire shift, with no time to complete the tasks that were part of my title—unless I took that work home, which wasn’t reasonable at $21.35/hour while working a second job just to get by. I’d honestly rather cashier for a few dollars less and give an availability, and not get screamed at for trying to write a schedule. While the wage sounds okay, when it consumes your entire weekends, evening, early mornings, holidays, it’s not really, as it really does take away your opportunities to rest, and make money elsewhere in order to pay your mortgage. That mid shift, screws up your whole day if you need to get something done in the morning. My first schedule there was 8 days in a row, all because I wanted my birthday off for a fundraiser I promised to help at. I returned from training to a mandatory managers holiday schedule, notified as a must when I had prior commitments to close up on, zero flexibility July 1-4th whatever they decided. Can we also talk about how I wasn’t given keys that worked, or an override card for the longest time. Even worse, I was never fully trained. Large parts of the role were never explained to me, and I was marked as “fully trained” regardless. I didn’t even get the chance to complete required onboarding or compliance trainings that every employee gets because I was never allowed time at a computer. And no one seemed to care. The environment at this location is hostile and toxic, largely due to one manager whose behavior went unchecked and deeply affected the morale of the team. When one person is allowed to scream at coworkers and override everyone else’s responsibilities, it creates a culture of fear and burnout. Especially when it’s their second time speaking. I was told repeatedly that the manager in the role before me had different expectations, had plenty of office time, free schedule, and was also told that the manager that mouths off to everyone, does it to everyone. So I never stood a chance 👎. Without knowing any facts she went to my (awesome) assistant and said “I just don’t want you taken advantage of” when she helped me with the schedule for the first time and I tried to figure out projections. Then I would be told things about her, we were already being pinned against each other. The other best part was none of the staff had any availability to even fill those needed spots. This store could be a great place to work if leadership were held accountable and new hires were actually trained and supported. The customers are some of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of serving. Unfortunately, that’s not the case at Emigration Market. Shame on you Harmons, you can’t even pick up a phone and talk to an employee that desperately wants to prevent this experience for everyone else. This store currently has 8 positions open, 8, in this job climate where people are desperate.

Small, yet full service with hot and cold bars and a place to sit and enjoy your meal followed by gelato. Combine these amenities with basic staples as well as hard to find products and friendly staff and the result is simply the best grocer in the city.
