Joe bike is one of the best bike shops in Portland. It's a small shop located directly in the heart of Southeast Portland. It seems to be right on a major biking arterial, as bikers are going back-and-forth constantly right by the shop. It's basically urban biking heaven right there. Not only that, Belmont Station is nearby so I know a visit to Joe Bike also means I'm going to get to enjoy a unique brew. The guys: Nick, Matthew, Bill ... these guys know bikes. Not are they bike experts, they know how to treat people well. Nick and Matthew both took plenty of time with me. They were patient and answered all my questions. They helped me find the perfect bike. I ended up falling in love with a bike I never would have even considered. I had a $2000 budget but they didn't push me toward the most expensive bike. They got me into the bike that was perfect for me. I highly recommend visiting this shop if you want to feel the urban biking experience. And you're probably gonna end up walking out of there with a bike that fits you perfectly.

I can't say enough about this friendly and extremely well-run bike shop. In the last 2 years I've had two bike builds with them (Ritchey Outback and Ritchey Ascent) and one bike makeover (Niner RLT Steel). All were extremely rewarding experiences with the shop's owner and mechanics providing excellent advice on components and doing impeccable work. The shop is not my neighborhood shop--I live in Southwest Portland--but it is well worth going out of my way to take my bikes there for service. Plus you can test your serviced bike with a ride up nearby Mount Tabor.

Joe Bike literally saved My life ! I brought My 17 year old bicycle in for a standard tune up back in March of this year ( 2025 ) . Joe Bike found that , after 17 years of use , a hole had developed in the supporting frame near My rear wheel . I was needing a new bicycle ... or risk My life on this one . This was My first time learning about that risk after 17 years ! Outside of Joe Bike , other shops merely agreed to a tune up and performed it for the past 17 years ... without actually taking apart the bicycle , examining it and being thoughtful in reviewing almost two decades of daily use I purchased a new bicycle the next day... and remain grateful for the honesty that may have saved My life
