Expansive open space area with lots of great multi-use paths tucked in-between Denver and Arapahoe counties providing storm water retention and water quality mitigation on the Westerly Creek. From here you can follow trails through the Great Lawn Park and Lowry Sports Complex down to Fairmount Cemetery eventually connecting all the way to the Highline Canal and beyond. The ephemeral reservoir is marshy most of the year and offers good birdwatching, but don't expect to go fishing here. We love wildflowers in the Spring/Summer and the peaceful native prairie high desert ecosystem. We’re truly blessed to have such a preserved natural exclave right here in the middle of the big city.

I take my dog here just about every day. It's a nice mile or two loop. So I get a good walk in and my dog gets to sniff the bushes. One time my dog had a skunk spray him. But he went looking for it. A leash is required for dogs in the area. You also can't fish or boat. I've seen fish. But I've never seen enough water to boat anyway.

The space itself is lovely. The off leash dogs, however, are a problem. The city can clear it's budget deficit just by fining off leash owners, who usually have 4 to 5 dogs each.
