I recently brought my bike, which I had purchased from this same Kozy’s location, for a simple tune up and tire replacement after some wear and tear from riding at my university. My family and I have purchased four bikes from Kozy’s over the years and never really had an issue until now. Right away, the older mechanic with glasses I dealt with had an attitude, but I did not think much of it. After a quick inspection, he told me a tune up would cost “about $100”, which I agreed to. He also suggested that I needed a new chain and drivetrain along with replacement tires, and I told him to go ahead with the cheapest options available. He wrote me a ticket listing the parts and my contact information, but never included an estimated total cost. Based on what he told me, I expected the total to be around $200 to $250. When I came back the next day, I was shocked to find the total was $352. I asked to speak with the mechanic, who came out with an even worse attitude than before, saying he was “doing me a favor” with the price he gave me. He then directed me to the sales manager, Bryan. As I tried to calmly explain the situation to Bryan, another young employee on the front desk interrupted our conversation not once but twice trying to justify the price herself, which was unprofessional. Bryan himself grew frustrated and claimed it was my fault for not calculating the total on my own. For a service that costs $350, I would expect a clear price estimate upfront, not vague comments or writings on a half sheet of paper that never included a total to begin with. Bryan repeatedly asked me if I was “listening” or “following” about 5-6 times, which came across as condescending. The final straw was when he asked if I was “short” financially and that’s the reason why I was questioning the price, which was completely inappropriate and insulting. In the end, nothing was resolved. I left extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and respect. After years of coming here, my family and I will no longer use Kozy’s for service or purchases. This experience was unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression.

Great bike shop in River North. Wide variety of bikes and accessories. Recently went in for bike repair services and was helped out by Peter. Was friendly, accommodating and answered all of my questions regarding the repairs I needed. Prompt repair services; Got a text that my bike was ready just a couple of hours after I had dropped it off. I’ll definitely be returning for all of my bicycle needs. Thanks Peter and Kozy!

I bought my bike here a little over a year ago - great sales experience by someone who was very passionate about bikes. A week ago, my derailleur broke so I brought it in for service. I am blanking on his name, but younger guy with mustache in back, was incredibly helpful. Took my bike apart to figure out the issue and to see if he could fix it without needing another part. Unfortunately, I did need a new part and it was going to be on backorder for 5+ weeks. The service team looked through my file and called the bike manufacturer to let them know it was under warranty and my bike was fixed a week later instead of five. Thanks for going above and beyond !

Horrible customer NO service!! My first time in this store. Just bought a place in the neighborhood and needed a bike helmet in possibly a new electric bicycle. Ready and willing to drop two thousand dollars on the ebike Wanted to buy a helmet first and scout chicago out on a divvy bike. I was absolutely the only customer in the entire place. The sleepy looking ban at the registered.Did that acknowledge my coming in the door. Another sleepy, looking older gentleman sat to my left and Stared at the wall. I tried going through the helmets on the incap that were for sale. However, there was a stack of three bikes leaning against the display. Tried on several different sizes. It realized I needed a size that was towards the bottom of this stack. I'm making all kinds of noise going through these boxes, pulling helmets out and trying to balance the stack of bikes that we're intruding in my search while trying on a helmet. They obviously saw me.I didn't care to help. Frustrated, I asked if there were any other bicycle helmets besides these. We said, there's some more in the back. Went to the back proceeded to go through these helmets. Again, the only that's rent the entire store. I'm making noise. I'm unpacking helmets from boxes, drying them on. I received absolutely no help whatsoever. Then a tall gentleman that appeared to be working in the back walked by me, saw my struggle and ignored me as well. Need this to say it will not be dropping. Two thousand dollars at this location and will continue my search for a bicycle shop where the staff actually Care to help!! This location deserves a 2 star. However, i'm giving it three stars because the inventory.
