I attended a Discover Dive with a group of women and it was such a great experience. Since we had a small group, it was almost 1-on-1 volunteer instructor to students, which was so comforting (especially coming from someone like me that was rather nervous). The orientation/instructions before getting in the pool were clear and helpful. I was starting to cough and freak out a bit and my volunteer instructor was right there to help calm me down without having to go back up to the surface. I felt safe the entire time. If you are looking to try out scuba diving, I highly recommend Learn Scuba Chicago!!!

The PADI cert is something that I’ve always wanted but always had a mental hurdle getting passed the claustrophobia with having to breath through something coupled with breathing underwater with low visibility. I found this place online and signed up because it worked perfectly with my schedule and just jumped into it with both feet. You can see the schedule of availability for pool and quarry dives prior to purchasing so you can schedule out all your pool dives and open dives to see if it works. From the first pool dives to the final dives in Kankakee quarry, the instructors were extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and patient. I let them know of what I had issues with and what I needed more reps with and they were more than willing to help. They don’t speed things up if you aren’t comfortable and truly take their time and actually care about what they’re doing. All of the instructors I’ve worked with helped me get passed my anxieties and it was a pleasure to be their student for the training. I highly recommend getting your certs from them. Instructor to student ratios were also perfect. The passion they all have truly shows and they don’t nickle and dime you for anything. The final quarry dives was worth it all. I’ll continue to recommend them to anyone who needs the cert. Thank you to all the instructors.

I just completed by OW certification with LSC. They were extremely thorough and I feel well prepared. The experience can vary depending on the DMC, but I found Sam, Zack, Jamie, Laura, and David to be especially kind and patient!!

I stumbled upon Learn scuba with a Google search. From the get go, my experience with Learn Scuba was great. The team members at the store were helpful in getting everything set up. The entire group of Dive masters helping with the pool and the quarry sessions were just fantastic. I felt safe and received good support and tips from all the instructors. Special shout out to Alex Surmach- he helped me get over my nerves in the pool during my first dive session. Furthermore Alex went above and beyond in helping me push my skills at the quarry. I would highly recommend Learn Scuba to anyone who wants to explore getting certified. They know what they are doing and they are dedicated to help you succeed.

If you want to learn how to scuba dive, you should definitely do it with Learn Scuba Chicago! The scuba instructors were very thorough, patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. It took me a lot of pool sessions to grasp the skills needed for my Open Water Certification, but thanks to the patience and expertise of the instructors, I was able to learn those skills and become confident in the water! Learn Scuba Chicago is a non-profit, and all of the instructors are volunteers. What makes that great is that each instructor I met was genuinely excited about scuba diving and eager to share their passion for diving with newcomers like myself. This made each pool session, and the final quarry dives, really fun and exciting. Thanks, LSC Team!
