Absolutely love this new pottery studio! The flow of the space makes it really easy and relaxing to work in — everything feels thoughtfully arranged. The studio itself is beautiful and clean, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere (really great natural light also!). Everyone I’ve met here has been incredibly helpful and supportive, from the staff to the other ceramicists. Really great community and studio. It’s a great place to feel inspired and be part of a community.

Amazing space, genius concept, super kind instructors! This is hands down my favorite pottery studio I’ve been to in SD. I had memberships at a few others but this one is the best. The studio itself is incredibly organized and clean. You’ll know exactly where to find your pieces and you’ll know exactly when they’ll come out of the kiln. On top of that, the space has giant windows with so much natural light. I love that it’s an open studio membership with a “come and go” as you please. I’ve been able to really hone in on my craft because of this concept. And I love that everything is included in the monthly fee. I truly feel this style works the best for anyone who is serious about improving! On top of that - The people who work there are all incredibly nice and helpful! If you are having issues with anything, they’ll happily stop what they’re doing to support. I’ve been going for about 3 months now and have seen a huge improvement in my craft thanks to the help of Holly, Mel, and Walker! They’re all such incredible instructors and have been patient with me as I learn more. Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough! I’ll be sad if I ever have to move lol

I use to do ceramics in high school and had wanted to get back into it since graduating. One of my friends had recommended I try out maek’s clay curiosity classes to see how I liked the studio. I ended up signing up for a membership immediately after. I love the vibe and energy that both their studios have. The studio managers are always so helpful and never make me feel dumb for asking questions and help even when I keep struggling with the same thing. At first I was concerned with the max hours we get with the membership but I have yet to hit that max and haven’t had any issues with getting studio time when I’m able to go. It’s been great getting back into ceramics and I’ve enjoyed being able to do it with a fun and friendly community.

I am an older adult who had never made anything out of clay before, let alone operate the wheel. Maek Friends has a program that teaches the basics and then let me proceed at my personal pace. There are instructors when I need them and there are always generous, advanced potters that I can observe and who are willing to advise. The hours are flexible and the operation is efficient. The recycled clay is abundant as well as the bagged clay, whichever you prefer. I didn’t expect to enjoy ceramics so much. Hats off to the owners and staff for putting this studio together. I love it.
