They love kids here and there is so much to do. Painting poster-sized papers on the walls with no worries about spills is a hit. Clay, including fired pottery, stencils, sculpture and plenty of glitter kept my girls happy for hours. There is a parking lot accessible on the corner of Flanders and 19th, which is on the back-side of the building, where the back-door entrance to the building, which leads to the Art Studio, is located.

This place is amazing! Took my son here during open studio time. The place was tucked away inside the Northwest Neighborhood Culture Center building. The kids have free range to be messy & creative with paint, pens, glue and clay. It was so fun to see my boy explore and play. He could have stayed there all day and was so excited to take his paintings home to hang in his room. I’ll definitely be taking him back.

My daughter started going here almost 3 years ago for preschool classes, did summer camps, and transitioned into the Girls Art Club during the school year. It’s such an amazing space! She loves the teachers and all the art she does there- I feel really grateful to have such a wonderful place with great teachers in the neighborhood.

Amazing Small Business. This studio gives children an opportunity to explore art in every medium. The class is an hour and 15 minutes - giving time for clean up that doesn't take away from the art time.

PCAS is my family’s happy place. There’s nowhere else like it in Portland, or anywhere I’ve ever been. We’ve been coming here since my kiddos were little and it is so special. Kids can explore color, form and texture with high quality, real art supplies. The teachers are top-notch: caring, present, invested and kind. PCAS birthday parties are unforgettable and their classes are the first thing my kids ask for at Christmas. What’s not to love? Devon and her amazing staff are my favorite people in town. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this amazing studio!!

What should visitors know before visiting Portland Child Art Studio with a group?

Visitors should be aware that Portland Child Art Studio primarily serves children aged 3 to 16 and maintains small class sizes to preserve the quality of instruction and safety. Most classes are drop-off, so parents should prepare to leave their child in the care of professional instructors unless attending a parent-child class designed for very young children and caregivers. Due to limited studio space, there is no seating area for parents to wait during drop-off classes, so coordination around pick-up times is important for groups. Health policies require children to be fever-free for at least 24 hours before attending to ensure everyone’s safety. The studio also encourages mask-wearing when children have colds or coughs. Groups planning special events or larger meetups should contact the studio ahead of time to discuss accommodations and scheduling. These considerations help ensure a smooth, enjoyable visit where the focus remains on creativity, learning, and positive social interaction. Being informed ahead of time helps groups make the most of their time and contributes to the studio’s respectful, supportive environment.
