Portland Clay House is easily my favorite local clay studio. It's filled with natural light and has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The space is clean, well kept and has all the necessary tools. The owners are open, communicative and friendly. If you're on the fence, come check it out, you won't be disappointed.

This is a gem of a studio! Upon walking in you are greeted with natural light from all sides. The varying ceiling heights and large number of windows create a sense of brightness that is present even on cloudy days. The owners, Kim and John are great communicators and very approachable. You can tell that they really care about their business by the way they treat their members, all those who walk through their doors and their great attention to detail. From the organization and plethora of tools they have available, to varying chairs/tables for accessibility to the detail of their glazing test tiles, they have truly put an immense amount of thought into creating an inclusive creative space. Memberships, classes and workshops lets you choose what you want to try out. As a plus, it’s located next to La Provance and across from Fred Meyer, so not only can you grab something to fuel you while working on projects, but you can grab groceries on the way home!
