Edit: This used to be a 5-star review. However, Rags has since changed their consigning model. Instead of simply stopping in before 12pm on a day that works for you, you must book a slot—it is May 14th and the slots on their website are all currently booked up except for a week in July when I won’t be in town. I called in and was told to wait a week for later slots in July to open up. So I have my nice clothes ready, I’d like to go have one of the lovely days I used to have, shopping while they look through my clothes, but instead I have to 1) schedule a time next week to check their website in order to 2) schedule a time two and a half months from now to actually come into the store. Also, they used to let you leave the store while they looked through your things but now require you stay the whole time. And while I always stayed anyway because I liked to browse, this change on top of all the others rubs me the wrong way because it’s another, in my mind unnecessary, barrier for consigners. I will still probably stop at Rags sometimes, but the change is sad. What was always great about dropping my stuff at Rags was that it was so easy! Potential and past consigners should know it’s not very easy anymore. Original review: I have been going to Rags for years both to shop and consign. Having lived in different areas for college and now grad school, I really appreciate the quality and atmosphere at Rags! I often find great, unique pieces there at a fair price, from formalwear to jeans to shoes. It’s a very well-rounded selection. When I’ve consigned, which I would say I do a few times a year, it’s all gone well. Once they accidentally gave away a few of my things that did not sell, and when I showed them my ticket, which showed I’d planned to pick them back up, they credited my account for the amount I would’ve received had those items sold. I thought this was a very stand up way to handle it. Overall I would absolutely recommend!

SELLER BEWARE!!!!! Honestly when it comes to selling to them I would not recommend. They are very sketchy. I took items in and they keep them to sell for 6 weeks, you get 40% of what it sells for. Ok, fine that is not great but it’s something I guess and that piece of info is clearly stated online. So I went in and they kept 14 of my items and gave me the run-down of how it all works. Once you allow them to keep your items to sell, they then give you a choice to "pick up" your items if they don't sell or to “donate them..." aka it becomes THEIR property. If you pick the choice to "pick them up" they give you a 2 day window to do it, otherwise again it becomes THEIR property. The lady told me that it's best to give them a call 1 or 2 weeks before your pickup window to see the status of your items, so I did that. I called 1 week before I was supposed to pick them up, my 2 day window pickup time. The lady on the phone told me, “oh looks like ALL your items have sold!” I asked are u sure? All 14 of them? Because I was surprised by that. She told me YES and said there was no need to rush in to come to get my money, that I can come get it “whenever.” I was gunna wait until next week to go in but something in my mind told me go in during my “pickup window,” just to make sure. Low and behold I got there today to get my cash, the lady gave me the cash and was like "I'll go grab your unsold items for you.” and I was like huh? The lady on the phone a week ago told me they ALL sold. She was like nope only 5 items sold. So, I dunno if it was an honest mistake by the gal on the phone telling me "don't rush in, all your stuff is sold" or a ploy to get me to come in late so COULDN'T get my additional 9 items back because it's become their property now, aka they now get to keep my items and 100% of the profits from it. My gut feeling is it's the latter of the 2. I don't think it's an honest place to sell to, they are sketchy and lying to you and I think on purpose!
