Came in to try on shoes because I was looking for something specific. I did find a couple of pairs that I liked and when I went to check out, as soon as the cashier heard that I do not want to become a member, his attitude completely changed and he seemed very annoyed. I live 4 hours from the closest REI therefore, I have no use for being a member. But, I was very disappointed to be treated differently just because I don't want to become a member. I also now never want to come back to REI in Paradise Valley. 🤷

Absolutely loved my experience at this store! I’m taking a trip in the fall to NC and was in need of hiking boots. I was afraid the shopping experience would be daunting as I’ve never bought a pair before and didn’t have much knowledge. The salesman who helped me was so friendly and informative! Sized my foot first to make sure I was getting the correct size. He helped me decide on these awesome Merrells! The color I wanted wasn’t in stock, he quickly ordered them, boom, 2 days later ready for pick up! I’m so pleased with my new super comfy boots! Thank you for such efficient top notch service! 🤗

Look, I’ll be honest, I’m a Chandler REI fan myself, but this one still hits because, well, it’s REI. You walk in telling yourself you're just going to try a couple things on, maybe kill some time, and the next thing you know you're at the register dropping a chunk of change on a “must-have” you didn’t even know existed 10 minutes ago. That’s the trap. And it’s a beautiful one. Gear, clothes, packs, hydration setups, snacks you didn’t need but suddenly crave, it’s all there. Yeah, one of the things I bought was pricier than I wanted, but that’s kind of the REI tax we all accept. If it involves the outdoors, this place has it or will make you believe you need it. Definitely worth stopping in, even if just to “browse.”

It’s been a while since I’ve been to this store but it’s exactly as I remember it. The selection is extraordinary and the service is equally impressive. I can be in the store for hours but unfortunately I was in a bit of a hurry. I was able to score a great deal on some hiking boots and wool socks. D’Andre in the shoe department went above and beyond to make sure we walked out with a smile, and we did. Thanks for the great service and taking the time to explain in detail all of our options. Even gave us a little lesson on how to tie a runners knot! Will definitely be back again.
