Why Relapse Theatre is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Relapse Theatre in Atlanta was a cherished venue located in a renovated church on 14th Street NW. Established in 2005 by Bob Wood, it served as a vibrant home for comedic troupes and a platform dedicated to cultivating new and emerging comedic talent. The theatre was known for its intimate and unique atmosphere that fostered close connections between performers and audiences, making it an ideal place for friends to gather and enjoy live comedy and improv shows. The venue also hosted artists-in-residence, further enriching its community-oriented vibe and providing a continuous stream of fresh, creative content. Its central location in West Midtown made it accessible and a popular meetup spot for locals seeking a fun night out featuring local art and humor. Despite its popularity and cultural significance, Relapse Theatre's operations at its 14th Street location ended in 2019 due to property redevelopment, marking the close of a significant chapter in Atlanta's comedy scene. These years galvanized a loyal following and showed how Relapse Theatre was more than just a performance space—it was a nurturing ground for creativity and laughter shared between friends and artists alike.

I rarely give 5 stars to any review. This place is amazing. Very laid back atmosphere, friendly staff in an intimate setting. I was there to see Mormon and the Methhead Saturday night. Had a great time. Definitely will go back. Seems like a great place for locals, wish I lived closer. I thoroughly had a great time with good laughs and good drinks.

I come here for the Story telling hour called Backstory starting at 8pm and open mic comedy starting at 9pm on Thursdays. Small place with a good bar selection and best of all, both shows are free. If you want to see local comedians working out, this is a good place to see it.

This place is awesome and wacky, just the way (🎶aha aha 🎶)I like it !! Cool art on the walls. You've got to see it !! Got "free tickets" on FB through EventBrite, that turned out to be "free reservation" go figure.. not a deal breaker, but cost 10 per person instead of 12. Free turned out to be $20, but apparently it's EventBrite fault. Anywho... comedy experience was outstanding, great talented artists in small intimate setting. Can you ask for more ?? After the show we chatted and shared jokes with comedians that performed - amazing outing and atmosphere. I have seen some " entry level" comedy before, but this improv kicks arse !! Definitely going back
